I mist the entire shower and have never had any mold plus my shower is super clean! Yea, the vinegar stinks and so it may bother you to have your bathroom smelling like vinegar so you could also use lemon juice to do the same job. I use vinegar cause it's cheaper than lemon juice and the lemon juice may cause a bit of stickiness but not bad.
