Guest guest
The only way I know to " wean " a baby that's " hooked " on the bottle is to just get rid of the bottle and get yourself mentally and emotionally prepared for the child to cry for a few nights...and she will. It can be nerve wracking but if you get up several times with her and reassure her she's ok, lots of hugs and love..you both will get through it. I went through this " withdrawal " with my first and second child. Third child I took a different approach and only used the bottle for feeding times when the was hungry for food/milk..what a difference. I didn't use the bottle to appease or distract. Wish I would have done this with the first 2. Best luck with Talia. My own daughter was EXTREMELY strong willed too so I just had to be consistent and say no, sorry, we're done with this. Sometimes it hurts us worse than them;-( On Monday, May 8, 2006, at 08:29 AM, herbal remedies wrote: > " Stuck " Sstuck > Mon May 8, 2006 2:21am(PDT) > cavaties > > my baby has cavities on her top front teeth. the Dr. said from > nursing at night. i don't know how else to get her to sleep, she > brings stubborn a while new definition. Guest guest
A few questions 1 Is Doc's tooth and gum formula ok for small children? 2 How old is your daughter? A few points 1 Amen on the flouride happy dentists. Good for you for sticking up for your daughter. 2 You said you were still nursing her at night. I believe in so called extended nursing, so this is not an issue. The cavities are not caused by the nursing, but by the milk pooling in her mouth when she is asleep. Could you nurse her until she is almost asleep and then stop? She would then swallow, and the milk would not pool in her mouth. Or if she is a little older, nurse her till she is almost asleep and give her a sippy cup of water to finish the job and rinse her mouth at the same time.
