Guest guest
Lee I sure know what you're going through getting off the cymbalta. My doc had me up to 60 mg for perimenopause, migraines and depression. Sure it worked but I didn't want to have to take antidepressants forever so I started lowering my dose from 60 - 20 mg over a week. I thought it'd be easy to get off of (like Prozac) but I started getting withdrawal symptoms like headache, pains all over, nausea & brain buzzes. It got so bad that I got another prescription of 30 mg and as soon as I took one pill..all went away. I knew then I was in withdrawal and so I quit cold turkey too..very unpleasant and wouldn't recommend it. Now I'm just trying to get my hormones together with natural progesterones and am also using several herbs for headache, mood swings, etc... I'm still getting brain buzz after 4 weeks off. Eli Lilly apparently didn't tell my neurologist how to get me off this stuff, she said she didn't know how to get me off without these symptoms of withdrawal. That's the last time I'll trust the big pharmaceuticals to " fix " whatever ails me. I've read many accounts of the same withdrawal symptoms of this drug..bad news. Guest guest
Well while i am no expert on meds or depression...working on them both myself....for those of you who did not get the message of the 2 below posts...NEVER COLD TURKEY anti depressants, anxiety meds, seizure meds cardiac meds, hypertensives....things that effect your heart brain nervous system cannot be stopped without slow withdrawal and not just because of the unpleasant symptoms. These things especially those dealing with seizures such as neurontin, even when not taken for seizures, can cause them if you pull yourself off cold turkey. Hypertensives can rebound your hypertension ...and the psych meds can have many effects. Been there learned the hard way. And please note...this does not mean they are no good or that this is a reason for stopping them....and going 'natural'....things that alter body chemistry are usually not to be started at a max dose or ended abruptly. sun In a message dated 5/8/2006 4:21:44 A.M.
