Guest guest
The only one we have is Eucalyptus. We take it on car trips/vacations. After every stop (gas/potty/food - every stop) we each hold it under our nose and breathe deep 2 or 3 times. We've never caught a cold on vacation! Guest guest
Georgia, Am running a little behind on my emails, so you may have more info than you ever needed on this already BUT This is my first love in healthcare so I thought I'd jump in anyway! Basic EO's on a Budget Lavender, English (do not get the Spike Lavender or the 40/42) - For use on all minor to moderate burns, skin irritations, inflammations and wounds plus it just plain smells nice. Also good for many emotional type issues (calming). Safe to use on skin undiluted. Tea Tree - Wonderful antiviral/antifungal/antibacterial. Clean wounds and put some in the bottom of your garbage can for instant relief! LOL Safe to use on skin undiluted. Chamomile, Roman - Rock-a-bye, and good night... Great sleep aid, anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant. The German is a better anti-inflammatory, but I love the scent of the Roman and know it better. Peppermint - Stops indigestion and nausea (including car sickness) in it's tracks. You *can* take some of these oils (including this one) diluted in water, but you understand I am not *recommending* this. Couple of drops in water when you want to puke though... Grapefruit/Lemon/Red Mandarin or other citrus - Uplifting when you are feeling blue. Just keep in mind that they are photo-sensitizers and should be used with caution ON THE SKIN (inhaling doesn't " count " ) especially in this lovely warm, sunny weather. I personally purchase my EO's from Mountain Rose Herbs online (am not affiliated in ANY way), and have been extremely pleased with the quality and service I have received. Once I had a bottle of clary sage leak and called them about it...had a new one as fast as they could ship it and was told not to worry about returning the other one for proof. Also, when you purchase your EO's I would recommend purchasing a good carrier oil. This will extend the life of your EO's as just a few drops will do quite nicely. I like sweet almond, hazelnut, apricot kernal and grapeseed the best! If you were only to buy ONE book on EO's I would tell you to buy this one: The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood. It's a great place to start! Good luck! It's an exciting journey! ~Ilea " Georgia Lundie " gklundie Sat May 6, 2006 0:17pm(PDT) Question - Essential OilsI am on a quest to purchase a few essential oils to start.can anyonerecommend some of the more common/basic oils to start with?
