For the past 5-6 months, I've ground 2 tbs flax seed and mixed it with cottage cheese in the morning. I always take it with my morning meds - multi-vit, osteo bi-flex, acidophilus, Effexor (working on getting rid of that). About a month ago, my stomach started acting up. It will burn and hurt so bad that a couple times, I ended up back in bed. I'm fairly tolerant to pain having 2 babies w/o drugs, both over 8 pounds. I didn't take it Wed. morning because I forgot. No stomach pain. Yesterday I took it as usual and my stomach was hurting bad again. Today I just did the flax, no cottage cheese. Ok, I take it with coffee and I know I'm supposed to take it with water but plain water and me just don't get along, especially early in the morning. The stomach pain was the worst it's ever been. I was tested for H. pylori on Wed. so I don't have a bacterial ulcer based on that neg. test. My doc suggested magnesium supplements for possible constipation, vit e, vit c, calcium, omega 3 plus an additional B vit. in addition to what I normally take. These are for my knee issues plus the possible constipation. Any ideas? Has anyone heard of stomach pain with flax?? Why after 5 months would it start doing this? I have read that anything over 1 TBS per day can cause gas and bloating. Good Luck!! --- " Michelle S.
