Guest guest
Hello everyone: I am relatively new to the group and have been absorbing all of the wonderful advice you all are sharing. Thank you. I have a 10 year old daughter, diagnosed with ADHD. She HAD been taking 54 mg of Concerta on a daily basis, but seemed to be more emotional and had stomach upset. I wanted to get her off of the Concerta, so the doctor switched her to 10 mg of Strattera, daily. Personally, I would like to get her off of all psyche drugs and treat her "naturally." I have been reading that some have had good success with Valerian root. Does anyone have any advice? We will soon be approaching summer break and I'd like to see her healthily balanced by the time school starts up again in the fall. Thank you, Erin
Guest guest
Erin, My son also has ADHD, He is 6 yo, he has never been on any prescription, to help him to manage his busy mind I have taken all refined sugars out of his diet, red food dyes and he is on a daily supplement of 500 mg Reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum). Doing this made such a dramatic change in his life that his teacher called me to find out what I had done because he can focus better and his grades are coming up. He himself notices the difference too, he will come home from school if I have forgotten in the business of the morning and say Mom we forgot the reishi, lol. That is how much of a difference that it has made in our lives. This is what worked for us I think that it would be worth giving a try but everyone is different. Hope you find something that works for you too. Blessed Be Kisha ---- agnusdei 04/23/06 14:00:56 herbal remedies Herbal Remedies - ADHD, anyone? Guest guest
Climbing on soapbox...Get her off that stuff!!!! Ok, I feel better now. Having taught kids with ADHD I would say that she is probably very smart and bored stiff in school (have you considered home-schooling? all kids do much better with one on one attention!) Climbing off soapbox. The essential oil lavender (lavendula angustifolia) is calming and relaxing as well as the essential oil roman chamomile. A blend of the two oils helps nicely, naturally, and it's a whole lot cheaper too! Maybe make or buy her a pretty handkerchief to carry with her to school to sniff regularly (renew oils daily...they evaporate) and put the oils in a diffuser in the room where you tend to have issues. (Ex. can't sit still for dinner...put it in the same room as the table.) ~Ilea " agnusdei " agnusdei Sun Apr 23, 2006 4:36am(PDT)ADHD, anyone?Hello everyone:I am relatively new to the group and have been absorbing all of the wonderful advice you all are sharing.
