Guest guest
Hi everyone; My brother-in-law is having major heartburn/gas problems . He was up all last evening with the pain. I swear, I thought he was having a heart attack but he has been checked and his heart is fine and his general health is good. Now I know the doctor is going to give him some of those 'purple pills' or other such treatments for the gas and heartburn and I really don't want to see him going that route - the side effects are frightening on some of those treatments. Does anyone know any way to help him with this Gas/Heartburn problem? I almost have him convinced to do a cleanse and I have him taking some probiotic powder but other than that he's been taking Rolaids, Pepcid and Pepto-Bismal ... not a greatw ay to handle the problem Thankyou so much Glenda
Guest guest
Hi Glenda :)I too have had heartburn/acid reflux/ulcer problems my entire life... get it from my dad, he's addicted to all the same stuff as your b.i.l. takes it all like candy!Aloe Vera Juice is a good start if he doesn't have ulcers yet!!! :)What I have found that really helps is laying off all dairy, heavy carbs and fried foods. Good raw veggies, like a salad with olive oil and apple cider vinegar, helps too... I also drink 2-4 oz. of aloe vera juice a day. This doesn't remedy the problem right away, but it's soothing, and over time does wonders. Really, one's diet makes the biggest difference... though I have been known to get heartburn from water! lol But the Juice can be picked up from any health food store (A lot of the average groceries are carrying it now too, in the health food section) it's pretty cheap, and you can add it to some juice or water... I like lemon water (Which also helps with proper alkaline(?) levels in the stomach, believe it or not) I feel your b.i.l.'s pain! Hope this helps some... and I too would advise against the prescriptions! They only ever help for a while, and eventually make everything worse, as your body then NEEDS them, and you have to keep up'ing the doses... not to mention the long term side effects! I have taken them all... and still struggle not to on really bad days... usually when I cheated on my eating habits. But over all the pain and troubles are 100% better than they used to be!As for the gas problems, that could very well be his diet as well. Not sure what helps with that... maybe time for a good detoxification?Hope this helps :)Love and Blessings on this, another beautiful day!~RaavenGlenda <glendamckee wrote: Hi everyone; My brother-in-law is having major heartburn/gas problems . Guest guest
My husband has acid reflux and takes accidolphilus pills and quit drinking diet pop(which actualy causes more gas then regular, becuse our bodies don't break down the diet sugars as well as natural sugar) and watches his diet.If he is going to eat something acid or spicy, try do do it a few hours before going to bed, take accidolphilus pills with meal, and never-never-never lay down after eating. You can also buy multi enzymes to take between acidol... pills, which will help your body digest foods better. Also,my husband can't eat chochole before going to bed. I personaly use both accid... or multi enzymes when ever I have heart burn and or upset stomache, works verry well. herbal remedies , " Glenda " <glendamckee wrote: > > Hi everyone; > > My brother-in-law is having major heartburn/gas problems . Guest guest
Glenda, I had the very same problem - severe heartburn and burping, for several years. I lived on Gaviscon which used to relieve it. Also chocolate used to relieve it - strangely - I put on weight eating chocolate just to get relief from the heartburn (seriously!). However one night at 3am I was so bad and couldn;t sleep my wife got out her homeopathy box and said we'll try this. She just dabbled a little bit in homeopathy for the children (had a beginner's kit type of thing!) - but I didn;t believe in at all. We went through the symptoms and one asked whether cold air gave me any relief. I recognised that one straight away because I used to go out the back doorr and stand there for a few minutes to get some cooll air which used to relieve the heartburn also. So Catherine gave me the homeopathy pill indicated by that symptom. As true as I am sitting here typing this email my heartburn was gone completely 15-30mins later and I have NEVER had it since. I couldn''t believe it and can hardly believe it still!!!!!!!! That is 4 or 5 years ago. So my homeopathy skepticism disappeared. Mind you I haven't studied much about it since - but if can do for other things what it did for my heartburn ................. well, we should all be converts. I later asked a homeopath I met about what was in those pills - he explained the basics which I have forgotton but I remember he said some are extracts of snake venom!! So who knows. Perhaps they have an immediate effect on the immune system. In any case there is no question it worked straight away for me. Worth trying. Regards. Guest guest
Glenda, I know most say and do go for the cleanse, but in this case I would not recommend it. Cleanses are great, but from my clinical experience people use them as a way out, a band aid, and too much in my opinion. Taking Rolaids, etc will create a very alkalinic environment in the gut, killing a lot of the good bacteria (creating dysbiosis and leaky gut syndrome- gas, bloating, gut, food in stool, tired, etc), killing the cells in the gut that produce HCL, and creating what is called hypochlorhydria. At the same time, most Americans do not drink enough water or if they do they are doing or drinking other things that cause dehydration. This is another cause of hyper/hypochlorhydria. When one is stressed, you essentially start to release more HCL. This will continue when you are stressed. From my experience, I see this a lot with people that are dehydrated, which is most Americans. Overtime from releasing so much HCL and your gut cells that produce being killed, diminished, etc, you actually become hypochlordydria (not enough HCL). So most MD’s think that when you have heart burn it is from overproducing HCL, which sometimes it is. But when one has gas and has been taking those other meds for a length of time, you actually create terrain for bad bacteria, fungus, parasites=gas, and most of the food just sits in your stomach. This creates the sensations of heart burn. I have helped many clients and family members by just getting them to drink more water throughout the day, with a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt, taking about 2000-3000mg of Cod Liver Oil (anti-inflammatory), probiotics and digestive enzymes. Then down the line (6 months) a cleanse “might” be needed, but not always. It all depends on other signs and symptoms. I know it sounds simple and it is. You can do a little experiment to see if he is hyper or hypo. You can buy some HCL tabs from www.drclarkstore.com and have him take some. If he gets the burning after taking them, then you know he is hyper. If he takes one and not response, take another, etc until he gets reoccurring symptoms. This would mean he is hypo-. You can use vinegar as well. Other nutrition and lifestyle principles need to be in order as well in order to not stress out the physiology of his body. Good luck!
