Guest guest
Darla It sounds like your daughter has weened the baby. If that is so I would stay away from formulas soy or otherwise if she can. as a mother of 11 children I have had a lot of experience with feeding problems. Soy formulas can actually form a bolus in the babies gut and needs to be used with care. I have used raw goats milk with my babies and this is the first milk other then breast milk that they are given. Here is a link to an article that might be helpful. http://www.healthnews-nz.com/infants.html . I do believe that there are some commercially available baby formulas made from goats milk if she is concern about using raw milk. If she hasn't weened yet and would like to continue to breast feeding. she should look at her own diet. All to often Drs and others are to quick to recommend that a colicky unsettled baby is weened and placed on formula when a all that is required is a change in diet of the mother. so much of what we eat is passed on to the baby via breast milk and by documenting what we eat each day and the babies reaction and by a process of elimination we can usually find the cause of the problem. some common food groups that cause problems in babies are dairy, wheat, and foods high in acids like tomatoes and oranges windy foods like cabbages ect. I have used this method my self to calm a colicky baby as have a few of my friends and we have all gone to continue to breast fee well into the babies second year. I hope this is of some help. Both camomile and catnip teas are good for settling colicky babies Lynn
