Guest guest
<< May I ask where I may obtain the Trigger Point Charts? Thanks Diane M >> I am forwarding part of a message Jyoti sent to me. Monica ~~~~~~~~~Thanks for contacting me! I found a link to the specific charts I have framed in my office. The link is: http://www.komkare.com/misc/charts/trigger.html It's not really clear, and the shaded areas appear darker on the web than they are in person...they're actually a bit more pastel when you see them for yourself. I couldn't find a link that'll really let you zoom in much to see real detail. But the charts, though pricey, are WONDERFUL and I use them every day in my practice. That's wonderful that you work on him! He really should see a therapist though, for 2 reasons: 1) It is possible to irritate nerves or inadvertently hinder blood supply, or further tighten muscles, especially when working the neck. It's important that muscles be released in certain ways, and released in a certain order to prevent spasm/compensation issues in surrounding muscles. Also, finding trigger points involves some advanced palpatory skills that most people without specific training haven't developed. It's important to be able to feel the trigger point, to feel its release, and to know exactly how much pressure apply. 2) YOU could hurt YOURself. You may not feel it at the time, but it is possible to do permanent damage to yourself (joints, tendons, etc) when working someone else unless you've been specifically trained in how to use your body and the laws of physics to prevent damage and give the most pressure at the least amount of strain on yourself. You're off to a GREAT start, keep up the good work! <grin>Hugs,~Jyoti~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
