Guest guest
Finding organic oranges in Minnesota can be tough this time of year. I was interested in drying peel to make my own vitamin C and am wondering if I should just buy the peel powdered. Love lemons, not crazy about oranges. Do you think buying powdered organic lemon or orange peel powder would work? I see a few bulk herb distributors carry powdered peel. any comments? Guest guest
I would be weary of who I bought it from in that case, to make sure that it really is 100% organic orange/lemon peel and hasn't been added to or played around with. At least with doing it yourself, 1) it's cheaper, and 2) I know exactly what it is. love Lisa - jeanne_simons herbal remedies Sunday, April 09, 2006 11:07 PM Herbal Remedies - Orange peel vitamin C Finding organic oranges in Minnesota can be tough this time of year. Guest guest
parsley is muh higher in vitamin c that oranges. in fact oranges are a poor source of vit c. its mainly in the peel as you are saying but theres more in a tablespoon of parsley than a whole orange and im sure much easier to aquire and tastier to eat tha the peels. Guest guest
Thanks Lisa. Do you think drying organic lemon peels would be just as effective as orange peels? One of the bulk herb companies, that carried dried peel, I found was Moutain Rose Herbs. Anyone have any comments on this distributor? Thanks Jeanne
Guest guest
Melisa, I don't know where you got the idea that orange peels are a poor source of Vitamin C. See Doc's article on making the vitamin C from Orange Peels - 1 tsp gives a person all the Vit C and related items a person needs - which by the way are needed for the correct absorption of the vitamin C. I sincerely doubt that Doc would recommend this as the best source of Vitamin C if oranges are such a poor source of that! If you want to disagree with Doc, I suggest you come up with some proof, and I suggest some very good proof! Guest guest
Perhaps she meant that eating an orange the way most people do (just the flesh of the orange) is a poor source of vitamin C as it [the vitamin c] is " mainly in the peel " ? I'm not certain this is what she meant though...just guessing. herbal remedies , " Lisa de Haas " <lisa wrote: > > Melisa, I don't know where you got the idea that orange peels are a poor source of Vitamin C. Guest guest
I haven't bought powdered orange or lemon peel from Mountain Rose Herbs, but I've bought several dried herbs. They've been of very good quality, very fresh. Terri herbal remedies , jeanne_simons wrote: > > > Thanks Lisa. Guest guest
Could you maybe put dried lemon peels or orange peels in the TN drink with the cider, udo's and egg? I just try to keep things simple to make sure I get daily vitamins. Also I read Doc takes daily vit e plus the drink. Do we need that supplement? Do we need more that what the drink provides (if it does-I don't remember)???? Marci herbal remedies , jeanne_simons wrote: > > > Thanks Lisa. Guest guest
lol- I don’t want to start trouble no way - that is what my mom told me. she went to school for this stuff and used to get on me for not taking vit c years ago and I explained I couldn’t drink oj etc etc and vitamins made me ill - this was all before I flushed the candida trouble out of me as im fine with it now- anyways, this was info she read me from oe of her textbooks. she said that the C in oranges in almost all in the peel and that even at that, its not incredibly high. she said the best sources were 2 inedible thing, one was acerello cherries I think and rose hips, and the highest food rich in vit C was plain parsley. that one tsp or 1 tbs had all we needed for a day. im not saying doc doesn’t know his stuff at all. I know my mom though and she studied this pretty good and I'll check actually if she still has the book. I just figured its easier to add a clump of parsley to a meal daily than go through all the other for orange peels if you don’t need to, food for thought lol, literally melisa
Guest guest
thanks- that’s mainly what I mean and that there are other ways but oranges get all the hype

Guest guest
Sure you can put the peels in the TN drink, if you want. Yes, Doc also takes the Body Balance + together with the Vit E. Body Balance balances out your body's PH balance. For most of us I would say yes, this is needed. Today's diet, even if pretty good, is mostly acid-ash producing foods, which damages the body's PH balance. To counteract this, Body Balance +. However, this concoction eats up the body's Vit E, so you need to top it up. It's important though not to take the Vit E at the same time as the Body Balance +. Take one in the morning and the other at night. love Lisa - " Marci " <twilli55 <herbal remedies > Monday, April 10, 2006 5:26 PM Herbal Remedies - Re: Orange peel vitamin C > Could you maybe put dried lemon peels or orange peels in the TN drink > with the cider, udo's and egg?
