Guest guest
or is it the other way around? My 4 year old and 17m old both have had fevers since Saturday, and Tylenol cold is a joke with them, I don't see it even giving temp relief. they have runny nose and coughs as well. any suggestions? thanks Alli has missed 2 days of school and dance because of this, although I don't see her being too upset about it all. she just hasn't felt well for a couple weeks now. : I am a worried mom. otherwise known as a mom Stuck avast! Guest guest
When my son was sick with a cold last time I ended up giving garlic and my you could see some instant releif. I put fresh minced garlic in empty capsule since your kids are younger you can try rubbing it on there feet and see what happens. I know that sound crazy but they say it works GinaStuck <Sstuck wrote: or is it the other way around? Guest guest
Hey Stuck.. This is a much misunderstood statement. It is not an instruction but a warning... " if " you feed a cold, " you will have to " starve a fever. Feed a cold, starve a fever. Many people misunderstand this. We do seem to feel better if we eat during sickness... that is because the body stops fighting out the bug, and turns toward digestion instead. What makes us feel so bad during sickness is the body fighting it off.. runny nose, sneezing, stomach distress.. these are actually good things for us. Many turn to allopathic stuff to stop this detox process as they feel the bug is making them feel bad.. but it is actually the body working hard to get the bugs out that is making us feel bad. so lots of fluids for a cold.. but no food if possible, let the body do its work.. if food is taken you will make things worse and fight the fever later. blessings.. spot herbal remedies , " Stuck " <Sstuck wrote: > > or is it the other way around? Guest guest
Stuck.. i forgot to add to my last post. Cool the fever with a cool sponge bath.. or fill the tub with cool water and bathe. dont bundle up young ones to " sweat out " the fever.. this very dangerous and can result in brain damage. cool baths, cool juice and water, light clothing should bring it under control. blessings.. spot herbal remedies , " Stuck " <Sstuck wrote: > > or is it the other way around? Guest guest
I always heard the other way- feed a cold, starve a fever but usually its best to let the child tell you if they want to eat or not but keep fluids going in like crazy. its been my familys tried and true method, just flush the sucker out! broth, juice, plain old water (after all the recent posts on water types I wont say I know any to be better than others personally but I personally crave spring water. most people say water is tasteless, I disagree adamantly! ) and the brat diet - bananas, rice, apples and toast for actual food type substance. as an adult I would drink tons of green tea and take extra antioxidants and could stop a bug before I really got it but kids are rarely aware of the symptoms that preceed a bug making it harder to prevent. good luck- my younger 2 are all sniffles the past week too and the younger is cutting ALL her molars at once! poor thing, shes not a happy camper to say the least but she sleeps these things away and isnt thrilled to be getting juices only to reduce the mucus but oh well! sure beats her choking on unneeded guck all night from milk products where the juice helps loosen it without causing more. hope it helps- hugs melisa
Guest guest
This may sound strange however, give the two wee ones baby enemas, this should help with the fever. Hope they are better soon, Megan or is it the other way around?
