I have been hearing that if you drink red rasberry leaf tea or taking

the capsules that you won't have a child birth that hurts like regular

people.

We're talking having your baby quickly, naturally, cleaning up, and

going home after a couple of hours.

Anyone have this experience?

I was always thinking that there must be an herb that can make having

a baby easy, is this the magic herb?

Yes, I took Red raspberry tea during both my pregnancies and both delivered in under 7 hours. I was not very popular when I commented a few times that I didn't have a lot of pain. :) Joy D.

I have had friends who have had easier births drinking red raspberry leaf tea daily throughout pregnancy, but I don't know if it can do what you are asking. It works by toning the uterus.Zahraatesixsevenfivethreeonine <rtt1969 wrote: I have been hearing that if you drink red rasberry leaf tea or taking the capsules that you won't have a child birth that hurts like regular people.

Red Rasberry leaf is great for females during the childbearing years. It tones the uterus. I to had a 7 hr labor and though I had some back labor, I did not feel the need for anesthtic. To say that it won't hurt like regular people may not be accurate but it would be accurate to say that you have given your body an advantage. Not only this, but being active physically and doing squats to help prepare your perineum and other vaginal muscles will also help. I drank red raspberry tea during the first trimester only. My cousins

wife instructed me not to drink it after that, as it can help to bring

on contractions later on. I did not get a chance to work that theory

out tho, as I ended up with a Csection.

You know, that is good advice, I also think it may depend on how potent the tea is and any other conditions you may have (physically, how many previous children, what your daily activity is etc...). Some massage therapists will not do prenatal massage after the first trimester for the same reason. Other woman will see the therapist all the way up until they deliver. You really just have to judge for yourself. I am still learning a lot though as I have just started my schooling. Did you have to transport care for the c-sec, or were you already at the hosp.? That is 100% true. C sec are now 1/3 of all births in America. American

doctors are no longer taught how to deliver breech births-- c-sec are automatic

for those. Of all births only 5% are breech and of the breech births only 5%

are transverse which truely do need to be taken c-sec if the baby is too far

along to turn. (transverse means that the baby is coming back first.) Even

with the automatic for breech births, that leaves around 28% of c-sec

unaccounted for. There are three major reasons for c-sec.

1. Failure to progress. This is somewhere between 12-18% of all c-sec. It just

means that the doc is sick of waiting for you. They really do have a time

table where they think that if you have " been in labor too long " you won't be

able to deliver the baby. Very dumb idea, but it is taught in medical schools.

2. Previous C-sec. There are hospitals now that by policy refuse all VBAC

births (vaginal birth after cesearean)

3. Elective C-sec. This is the height of ignorance. American women are so

confused about labor that they are told that a c-sec (major abdominal surgery

with a 6 week recovery time) is easier than labor. Currently this is around 8%

(depending on which report you believe maybe higher) of all C-sec.

Having said that, here are some tips to avoid csecs.

1. Don't go to the hospital. Now, if you do decide on a hospital birth (and

yes, there are other options) do not go in until you are in the second stage of

labor as defined by Bradley (first stage is all labor up until the second

stage. You hit the second stage when you cannot do anything but labor, you

don't want to talk, anything but be left alone to labor)

2. Squats and lunges help turn a baby that needs turning.

3. Labor upright. Lets just look at the basic laws of physics. The hole where

the baby comes out is down. Keep it there to let gravity help.

4. No drugs. They slow labor, and cause all sorts of problems. I recommend

the bradley method, though I am about to start looking into hypnobirthing.

5. Get informed on what to refuse. You don't need the doctors permission.

They go by the book on generalities, not by you and your specific baby's needs.

There are other groups that really help you know specifically about birth. If

you want more info feel free to email me off list for some more info.

I absolutely 100% agree with you! There is plenty of evidance to back this up, honestly if you don't know your options you don't have any. Absolutley check out homebirth, birthing centers, or if you do a hospital birth, what is the OB c-sec rate? Episiotomy rate? Lot's of things you should know about how they practice.ramona wrote: That is 100% true. C sec are now 1/3 of all births in America. fully agree with you-

my oldest was breech and backwards not to mention a month early so they tossed me in an ambulance to a specialty hospital and did c sect immediately. consequently the following 2 babies were c sect.

most importantly- when pregnant everyone has a theory and thinks theirs matters and everyone else is wrong and they put you into these guilt trips or fear trip that you will have your baby taken etc for being unfit if you refuse their drugs- TOUGH. I firmly believe the stuff they gave me to slow the labor of my second (she was nearly 3 month early) is what caused her and I BOTH to fall ill with autoimmune adrenal related diseases. awfully ironic if not, both get sick with very similar issues within a few months of each other. doesn’t add up in my book but I have yet to prove it.

I never drank any teas or such but I can say I had very fast labors. my oldest gave me all of 6-7 hours and that was start to full dialation- they were trying to keep her from bouncing out in the ambulance! my second I had such an awful backache I never noticed when it became labor. but I went in to er at 6 am and they tried awfully hard to stop or delay her birth and made it only til noonish and keala the baby chose to put me in labor just an hour before the scheduled c sect. no vbbacs. anyways, least shes waiting for her due date

Melisa, were you trying to have a homebirth or did you plan on birthing in the hospital? Also, how do you feel about your c-sec?ramona wrote: Wait a sec, you mean you were that far along that they were trying to keep thebaby in, and they STILL did a Csec? I was about 35 weeks pregnan but she was breech - butt first AND backwards - facing out. if she had flipped stright over like a somersault she'd have been normal. they tried to stop the labor because of her positioning and I was an hour away via ambulance from a hospital that could "handle" this type of thing. I was living in a lil town then and their hospital was a joke. plus I was only 17 yrs old. they didn’t think the baby would have complications from the premature delievery, they were worried about the way she was coming out. and its protocol of course to TRY to delay labor if it starts before at least 36 weeks. they had also moved my due date back, originally was aug 17, this was july 19th and since she is a petite one they insisted I was wrong about when my last period was and tried to insist I was due in mid-late sept! sure I coulda been slightly off one the exact day but a whole month! no way.... in fact I could tell I was preg before I missed. might sound nuts, but I know my body well enough to notice even a tiny change but that’s just me.

I wasn’t thrilled about the c sect but I felt trying to go on without it would have been much much worse.

originally I wanted a home birth. we found out her positioning a week before she was born and we were still discussing what we wanted to do. then when I went into labor early ob made me go to hospital and then he scared me, well really the nurses scared me. but remember I was 17, this was a very small town where there most common ER patient is removing a tiny fishing hook from an old man who took his grandkid fishing on the lake ! most women had their babies in the hospital an hour away by choice besides the ones who used the birthing center and they refused me with the breech/backwards ordeal. so I was headed for a hospital either way. in some ways I prefered it but in many ways I was very upset I had to have a c sect. I have a great pain tolerance and hadnt even registered for the drugs "just in case" as I was told to. I was awake for all 3 births though. I have never been sedated for anything and I reall don’t plan to. at that point I was just more scared than anything. now seems like everyone has or knows someone who had a preemie but at that time I didn’t and I pictured her in a plastic box for months and so on but it didn’t work that way anymore. she did stay a lil while but only 10 days, to gain weigt mainly. her vitals were fine, she was just small, just under 4 lbs.

You aren't alone in that. I can also tell when I get pregnant. Its a very good

thing cause I can't pass a pregnancy test. You can know things about your body

if you pay attention. I also feel my babies move before I am " supposed to "

When will docs learn that people are differant?!!!

isnt that the truth- I swear I could feel the heart beating very very early. my 2nd preg I failed preg tests 5 times and still hd a period ! I thought I swas having a false preg because of a miscarriage. I always just smiled and nodded with drs when they'd say oh that CANT be true. its just coincidence...... ok buddy, if you think a textbook is more accurate than a person, have fun. prolly why I have never had much faith in drs. this started as a kid as my pediatrition was a jerk. I was sick a lot and he ran a few tests and said I was trying to skip school. I CANT be sick, no fever , no "symptoms" etc.... well found out I had awful milk intolerance. he ate a lot of foot after that. well I didn’t see him but once or twice after that all happened and that was only out of dire urgency and mom making me go. grrr- I have been screwed more times by drs. cant stand them!

Bless you for saying this!!! I am 11 weeks pregnant, have bled twice (about

when periods would be) never passed a pregnancy test, but I can feel the baby

moving, and have known for 9 weeks that I was pregnant. I have asked my body

and it says repeatedly that I am indeed pregnant. Now as I can't wear my

regular clothes anymore, and my belly swells, I still can't pass the test.

Whatever. They like to say they are foolproof, but that is patent nonsense.

It does feel good to talk to someone who has had the exact same thing though.
