Guest guest
Hi, I am new here and I was wondering if there are any natural rememdies for toenail fungus? I live in the tropics and I own horses, I spent 8 months of last year dealing with a mud pit and with 3 pairs of wet weather boots that never seemed to dry. I could not get the dirt out from underneath my toenails. After the rainy season ended this past winter I noticed that my big toenail had become white in some spots and reddish on the nail bed. In the corner it looks like the nail has lifted off the nail bed, one of my horses did step on me once so I think that maybe it could have been that but, this has been at least 4 months since and the discoloration is still in the same area and the white spots don't seem to be growing out. I went to a GP who gave me a refferal because he wanted a 2nd opion since the nail fungus meds on the market are very hard on the liver, he did not want to misdiagnose me. Does any one know of a good home remedy for this? Thank you all, Leslie

Guest guest
I had this several years ago. I took an eyedropper and saturated the area with plain old rubbing alcohol 3 times a day until the nail grew out past that point and I haven't had it since. Barb How often do you apply it, and how? Straight from the bottle? In a carrier? We tried this, but didn't help, but we didn't try for more than 8 weeks, I think, at a time. We also tried Oil of Oregano, but it dries my nails and toes out too much. I do think, though, that wearing all natural, and organic if possible, cotton or wool socks make a huge difference in the fungus. I spin and knit up my own wool socks and my feet love me for it! Now on to the cotton! Kimberly Smith
Guest guest
My husband had a bout with toenail fungas a year or so ago, and his doctor told him to run Vicks Vapo Rub on & under the nail twice a day. In about a week you could see a difference, and in another few weeks it was completely gone. Since then when he notices it trying to come back, he just uses the Vicks for about a week and it goes away. Sure beats taking a Rx pill that afffects your entire body! Guest guest
I don't know about toenail fungus, but I will tell you my story. I smashed my toe one time, and somehow it got infected and wouldn't heal. That hurt, that was a nightmare. Nothing I tried would get it to heal, for 2 years I tried everything I read about, and nothing happened. I read that Saw Palmetto berry extract was curing people of an enlarged prostate, it would shrink it back down to normal, so I took a chance, I bought some, the kind with alcohol, I wrapped my toe in gauze and soaked it in the extract, went to bed, woke up, and all the swelling was gone, but still had an open wound, I wrapped it up again, put on the extract, went to work. Came home, and it was completly healed. Very soft new skin, but all healed. All I had to do was be careful while the skin strenghened. I think that saw palmetto extract kills bacteria, I think it's a very powerful bacteria killer. I don't know for sure, but thats my guess. herbal remedies , " Leslie Cruz-Rogers " <aquafish wrote: > > Hi, I am new here and I was wondering if there are any natural > rememdies for toenail fungus? > > I live in the tropics and I own horses, I spent 8 months of last > year dealing with a mud pit and with 3 pairs of wet weather boots > that never seemed to dry. Guest guest
Vinegar will remove your toenail fungus, but you have to apply it everyday. I use a Q-tip to apply it. I've also heard soaking your nail in vinegar will work just as well.

Guest guest
Yes Camphor is the ingredient that works on the fungus. I wanted to see what others came up with first but I can tell you that I have used all these and with little real success. The Tea Tree Oil might work for others but all I get is a slowdown then back with a vengeance! By far the very best thing I have used to date is a block of Camphor shaved into regular Kerosine till it wont accept anymore then paint the toenail everyday with the disolved camphor and the nail will look better in ten days and after a month usually the fungus is gone for good. Nothing works real fast that I have found due to the nature of how the fungus is under the nail and in the nailbed. DonPeta Celleste <petacelleste wrote: How bad was the toe nail fungus? Guest guest
Straight from the bottle twice a day. Make sure it is 100% pure tto and not a diluted form. I also scraped the spongy fungus out from under the nail as best I could twice a day. I did this before applying the tto and I tried to get it underneath the nail as best I could. I'm also a barefoot freak. I only wear shoes when I absolutely have to. Keeping the toenail exposed to air and as dry as possible will also help termendously. If you find it dries out your skin too much you can use a carrier oil. I prefer coconut oil. Don't give up! Somewhere I read that it can take up to a year or even longer. Guest guest
Hi, I was given the recipe years ago and never changed it. I dont like the idea of Kerosine either its a petrochemical but always thought it might be an equation in the killoff of the fungus? Ive made this stuff for years and have given it to literally hundreds of folks and to my knowledge when put on the toenails faithfully as instructed, I've never had it fail!. I'll give Ethanol a try but not sure if it will dissolve the Camphor cake or not? The curative rate of Tea Tree Oil varies so much I just gave up on it and prefer to use what I know will work virtually everytime when done correctly. Guest guest
well- its my understanding that fungus is a result of candida overgrowth. therefore acidophilus or eating yogurt and reducing a poor diet or too much sugar and yeast feeders will get rid of it for good. yeast correcton got rid of it in my right foot, my left still has it but left was very bad..... Guest guest
If you don't mind the temporary coloration, an effective Asian remedy is a paste made with equal parts turmeric and henna powder mixed with a little filtered/ distilled water. Apply on affected toenail making sure you work it into the cuticle and underneath the toenail. If pure henna powder(the real stuff with no dyes added) is not available then just use turmeric paste. This should also work. warmly Begum herbal remedies , " Melisa " <On_A_Quest wrote: > > well- its my understanding that fungus is a result of candida overgrowth. therefore acidophilus or eating yogurt and reducing a poor diet or too much sugar and yeast feeders will get rid of it for good. yeast correcton got rid of it in my right foot, my left still has it but left was very bad..... >
Guest guest
This isn't always true. I got mine from a filthy creek I walked alot thorugh. I used plain old rubbing alcohol. When you take a bath your nails become soft, you have to do that with the alcolhol, you have to saturate the infected nail with it to the point that it's soft. Mine was on the left big toe and almost half the nail became infected and wasn't even attached. So I know the alcohol works, it worked for me.Melisa <On_A_Quest wrote: well- its my understanding that fungus is a result of candida overgrowth. therefore acidophilus or eating yogurt and reducing a poor diet or too much sugar and yeast feeders will get rid of it for good. yeast correcton got rid of it in my right foot, my left still has it but left was very bad..... Guest guest
Alcohol works very well...Also you can try Tea Tree oil. But only use it 2 times a day. Morning and before bed. Dont be a smart-*** like I was and doubled the treatment. I used it for little wounds on my head. It made me dizzy and sick to my stomach. I hope this works for you. I havent had nail fungus since I used the Tea Tree oil. But I do have the dry scalp now because of over use. That's what I get for being a dumb..***. Guest guest
Hi Rob, I think you will find as many others have, that this is a very quick ( by toenail fungus standards) way to get rid of it! Keep dosing about ten days past the time your sure its gone. You will start seeing results and change within a week or ten days of applying twice daily.if you see peeling dry looking skin arround the nail this most likely is the same fungus only infesting the area arround the nail and i apply this to it also. I live in Asia and coming by Camphor as a solid block is not so easy. I have recommended the product called Tiger Balm to people with almost the same good results, it contains a large amount of Camphor also. I am not too sure if its available in the States or not? if you do know it you can give it a try it seems easy and effective as well.A friend of mine just told me yesterday that it cleared her Toenail Fungus up completely after battling it for two solid years. She applied it twice daily and got results in a months time.
