Guest guest
Hello, My friends father has high cholesterol and is taking Red Yeast Rice and it has been getting lowering over the past few weeks. Try researching it and see if it would be good for your husband. Take Care Gina
Guest guest
Hi All, I'm looking for some advice, besides the obvious diet and exercise, to help my husband with his recent cholesterol numbers. My husband is in his early 40's and is in all other ways extremely healthy. Though last week he had his blood drawn and we received the numbers yesterday. They are as follows: Total cholesterol: 188 LDL: 139 (which is in the " borderline high " range) they want it to be less than 100 HDL: 37 The accompanying literature says: " A level less than 40 mg/dl is low and is considered a major risk factor because it increases your risk for developing heart disease " ~ I DON'T LIKE THIS ONE! Triglycerides : 75 (I suppose that's decent) and Blood sugar: 87 The doctor wrote " great " to that one. What do you recommend? Thanks for all the help! Guest guest
Well, mine was over 400, so I do not see that his is so bad, however, oats on a whole are very good for reducing bad cholesterol, and also oolong tea, about 3 times a day, is super good. I also decided it was time to get off my butt and move, and start eating right. I eat nothing but whole grains, fruits and veggies, and drink a lot of tea. I have lowered my numbers significantly in 3 months, oh, I also eat chicken, but absolutely no red meat at all. The only fat I use is olive oil...and I walk like crazy. Good luck! You can get those numbers down. I also quit smoking, that helped. Lady Sencha > > Total cholesterol: 188 >
Guest guest
I'd be far more concerned whether the arteries are open so the cholesterol can zip through them lickity split! Remember, "they" always change the standards. What was called "normal" yesterday can, with the stroke of a pen, be considered "high" today. Remember also, cholesterol lowering drugs are the cash cow for the pharmaceutical companies today. Simple things like cayenne, garlic, hawthorne, etc., can work wonders for both high blood pressure and cholersterol. Do your research. Guest guest
Mine and my 82 yo bro look like that also. The dr called mine a genetically low HDL and doesn't worry it. As far back as the early cholesterol measurements, my hdl has always been low and nothing ever effected it much. I'm happy mine is not as high as my wife's 350. Regards. - lll_yvonne herbal remedies Tuesday, March 21, 2006 11:49 AM Herbal Remedies - Hubby's cholesterol Hi All,I'm looking for some advice, besides the obvious diet and exercise, to help my husband with his recent cholesterol numbers. Guest guest
Here is my 2 cents. I had a heart attack & died twice. Total cholesterol a whoping 127, triglycerides 47, HDL 57, LDL 61, VLDL 6 The important thing for your husband is to check his Homocysteine, mine was 10.6 ..... 12 is the top.( can be lowered by taking the B vitamins) The other thing is to find out the SIZE of the cholesterol, that is WAY more important then amount. As for reducing it RED YEAST RICE is the best. The drugs they give you were "modeled" after the red yeast rice. So the drug companies can charge you up the hinney for thier "miracle drug", which happens to cause liver damage & in some muscle weakness that can be irreversable. Garlic, cayenne & hawthorne are also very good. Do check out the info available out there. You said your hubby gets sick when he takes vitamins,is he doing so on an empty stomach? If you take them with food they actually work better. There are also some liquid ones available at Sam's club you might try.
