Guest guest
Hi everyone. I am in real need of an effective appetite suppressant. I am in the process of changing my life style but really struggle to do what I know I need to, due to my constant need for food and sweet cravings. I'm sure its a lot to do with the mind as well as the tummy!! thanks in advance. Kate
Guest guest
I started using the "Master Cleanse" lemon drink and am finding it extremely helpful. I'm not ready to do the 10 day fast yet but felt I couldn't go wrong with the lemon drink. Here's the formula: Combine 2 tbsp. of fresh lemon or lime juice, 1 or 2 tbsp. of organic maple syrup and some cayenne pepper (as your taste allows), per 1 c. of pure water. Drink at least 6 glasses per day. Another formula for cravings is: Electrolyte Drink – Minerals are the building blocks of the body and a lack of them will cause cravings as well. A good ocean sea salt like Celtic provides over 84 minerals, as well as “good” salt, which is required by every cell in the body. Whenever you get cravings sip on the best electrolyte drink in the world, which is ¼ teaspoon of a good ocean sea salt like Celtic, and the juice of ½ a lemon mixed into 6 ounces of water. If you crave sweets, use Stevia. It's delicious and has no calories. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Kate, I have been taking Hoodia for almost 3 months now and it really does work. My friend Joe and I started taking this after trying many things from GNC. I learned about Hoodia on a CBS 60 minutes report and I found a web site www.buyhoodia-online.com that offers it for $40. They also offer a money back guarantee. For best results, you should be on it for a couple of months. Give it a try. Guest guest
Read "Natural Cures "THEY" don't want you to know about" by Kevin Trudeau and you'll know the real reason why we always feel hungry; why we have cravings and why we're getting more and more obese as a nation in spite of the fact we're eating more and more "low" fat foods and more and more "diet" foods. Guest guest
Of course it is safe. It doesn't completely take away your appetite, so that your body would starve. It just knocks the edge off. Guest guest
I'm sure that there's a boat load of information on their site, but I don't give much credit to any information on any site that's trying to sell me something. I'm not saying Hoodia doesn't work, or that the company isn't ethical. I'm just saying that before anyone spends money on anything " natural " , make sure that you get information from a multitude of sources, especially ones that won't profit by convincing you one way or the other. herbal remedies , Kathy Schultz <kschultz1950 wrote: > > Yes it is. Guest guest
For what it is worth. I have seen Hoodia in every health food store I have been in. Also, I read that there was a study down at Brown Medical School on this item . It is a natural herb. Diane M
Guest guest
You have to remember that you’ll typically need up to two weeks of regularly taking hoodia before you begin to notice the effects of hoodia. After two weeks, you'll notice that you have a reduced interest in food, you'll notice a delay in the time after eating before hunger sets in again and you'll feel full more quickly. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Kate! I am new on herbal remedies, and I didn't participate much since I'm here. But I'd like to let you know my impressions about what you live. When you say you have sweet cravings, it immediately tells me you may suffer of hypoglycemia, a well known problem, ignored by the conventionnal medecine. Most of the north american people live with it, or I should say survive with it. I found good links about that so you can check by yourself if you think it is the main cause of your disorder. After that, I share some things I use for me and my kids. This site explains pretty well what it is and what you can do to treat it. But get ready for a whole different lifestyle... http://www.hypoglycemia.org/hypo.asp Also here is a forum about nutrition and candida, candida being closely related to hypoglycemia. Just for the nutritionnal infos there are on that site. In fact, it seems to me that it is exactly the same problem, manifesting in different ways. The causes and the treatments are identical. http://wholeapproachforums.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/5846011311/m/6916055235 "Yeast connection" is a well known book about something closely linked to it, too. For the cravings and to eat less, and less often, I used licorice root sticks to chew between meals, whenever (but I would not use concentrates or extracts...toxic in a certain quantity) It refills you in a mineral (potassium?) that causes you hunger when you have a lack of it. It worked for me and my kids. Drinking GOOD water (not from the tap) when you have to be patient, and breath deeply, GOOD air, looking at an opened window with fresh air. Some recommend having a strict 5 hours between each meals, 3 meals par day maximum. Your body will enjoy regulation. Eating everyday at the same time is also important, helps you to avoid low sugar crisis, like when you have sweet cravings, when you may sometimes feel impatient and confused. Eventually, you'll be hungry only at the times you usualy eat. Eating too much and too often makes you fatigue. "The less you eat, the longer you live." Some also treat it with a serial of short fastings. Causes of hypoglycemia are multiple. Your brain feeds mostly on glucid. Your liver stores for when needed, some nutrients and aminos, and enzymes, and glucids. Stress and coffee and too much proteins and cigarette and pollution wastes your reserves. Refined and processed foods steels your reserves in all kinds of important nutrients that are supposed to make you stronger, more resistant when a stress happends. They make you weaker, you feel always like you need something, so you eat and look for the boost that sweet brings you... Bad stress and a poor nutrition wastes ALL your reserves. It is not the amount of food you eat that imports...it is the nutrients in it, and it matters to know how much toxins it contains. Eating too much proteins makes a big liver unable to store more, full of toxins. Too much proteins makes you fatigue and pain everywhere. Also, the protein quality imports. (See some writings from dr Herbert Shelton, hygienist) (I'll explain the link later) Carbohydrates are sometimes good, sometimes bad...depends if they are natural and whole. All the nutrients and fibers to go with it, nature planned for you the best diet. It makes the glucids go slowly in you blood, not attacking your pancreas, and ASSIMILABLE nutrients with enzymes, all together. Natural, whole and raw carbohydrates would be important, while refined, cooked ones would make things worse. Sugar and refined products brings in your blood too much glucid too fastly and for a short period, and then your pancreas reacts by producing insulin, lowering the glucids your whole body needs so much, affecting every single cell of your body, and when it happends too often it causes fatigue and all sorts of troubles... finally your pancreas becomes irritable, hypersensitive and sends insuline whenever something is wrong to your body. Having a perfect diet would be the solution to give a break to your whole system, and refill it in what makes it strong. The best thing I ever done for myself and my kids was to notice the effects of what I eat on my health, mind, sleep, etc. I had a notebook for a month or two, describing our health, feelings and what we ate. Their behavior was closely linked to what they eat. Mine too, but kids one is more noticeable... If it is it, you'll have to avoid stress and pollution. Rest. Exercise, too, of course! Avoid potatoes, peanuts, alcohol, coffee, cigarette, (if you are ready to feel better) and a lot of things you'll notice yourself, by being observative. Chicory root tea worked for me and my kids, too. I used chicory coffee at the beginning, to quit coffee. Right after I drink it I feel so much better, and after a while my health improved a lot, and my patience too, but I felt Chicory coffee was not as good as chicoree (unroasted) tea...makes sense to me, that the less transformated one must be the best one. So, it refills your liver in good things, cleaning the toxins. It is safe, too. I also use woodruff (asperula odorata) (I buy it in bulk at a natural food store in Hull), it grows in beech trees forests. It has a sedative effect (calming, helps to sleep well but not fatiguing), cleanses the blood, the liver, helps the blood circulation (I use it in fall and winter to not have cold hands and I'm never cold...and it smells soo goood, like vanilla, kind.) calms the nerves and the pain, too. Helps to live longer. I sleep better with that and have no difficulty to wake up the morning. Use everything that refills you in minerals, enzymes and other nutrients you'll see it in good books, because ...it's a long story... And things that calms (if it is your case to need it.) Also, I should add the best help ever, to help sweet craving, not to forget STEVIA. http://www.rain-tree.com/stevia.htm , http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Stevia+rebaudiana (or search more on google...) Stevia has been used for hundreads of years in traditional medical systems in Paraguay for the same purposes as in Brazil. My kids never eat anything containing sugar or high glycemic level, and when I want to treat them, I use stevia in desserts, herbal teas that don't taste too great, or home made lemonade. Anytime I want to add a sweet taste, I use stevia. If you buy powder, notice that the white one is refined, and is then not healthy. The green one is pure and less transformed, and also less expensive. You can make drops with it. I use to add 2-3 drops in my chicory coffee instead of my spoon of sugar, for an equal taste of sweet. So it IS sweet! There are many other solutions, too. These are the ones I used. I still am hypoglycemic, I'm not finished to fight it, but I don't suffer anymore. Guest guest
WOW Sophie, How much do I owe you for that consultation? lol Thank you, thank you so much for that information. You have really cemented what I have been trying not to acknowledge for a while. I have printed out all of your post and will get to work changing things. Some of your ideas I am already starting to incorporate into my life but I feel you have given me a new life plan and something tangible to get started. Thank you so much once again for taking the time to give me so much information. I'll keep you posted about how I am going. Guest guest
peanuts mold very very quickly. I was going to comment on the suggestion of the "yeast connection" book myself as it about saved my life years ago. I was healthy by medical standards but I always felt sick. it was awful, my mom was big on trading books at local used book dealers and she'd keep an eye out for things for me that could help. don’t know why that book caught her eye but I read it cover to cover and altered my diet and was incredibly amazed at the improvement. word to the wise though- I had an awful diet before that, loaded with ALL the wrong stuff. they say to do a 2 week cleanse removing all sugars, molds, starches and so on and eating basically plain vegatables and meats - not even fruit due to sugars- my body went into shock by day 2 or 3 and I HAD to eat a few of my no no list just to be ok and taper off a lot slower. which took longer than the 2 weeks of course BUT it was so incredibly worth it. the peanut thing was brought up I think in that book. I read another at the same time that was very similar and I think it was called 7 weeks to better digestion or something like that- but yeast or candida feed on sugars, molds, spores, starches etc so it said to avoid even honey and mushrooms because of spores! peanuts grow mold very quickly so unless its fresh peanuts theres a good change of ingesting mold. I loved reeses so I was irked but the thought I was intentionally eating mold made the ability to give up peanut butter MUCH easier lol. they suggest almond butter, sunflower butter etc in replacement of PB- I chose almond butter. at first it tsted strange but after I finished the first jar I prefered it. its much like the fresh ground peanut butter as its gritty and you have to really stir it up since it settles in the jar but really good. my suggestion would be read the book itself as there are way too many little things you would never even suspect to try to list for someone else but the book signifigantly helped me and a number of friends and family who also read it. it was priceless info. melisa

I love Reeses also, Plus I probably eat a jar of peanut butter a week. I am surprised my naturalpath has never said anything about that to me? Guest guest
the book detailed which nuts were ok. I know almonds were ok - cant recall if cashews were ok or not- I think they are. I just remembered them really singling out peanuts and ALL peanut products. but peanuts have always been in a kind of class of thir own. look at people with allergies to them. cant think of many common foods that will kill you if you are allergic to them. seafoods....that’s about all I can think of easily. it does seem odd your naturopath didn’t say something about it. hmmm- oh well- melisa
