Guest guest
I want to be more self-sufficient than I have been and begin making food from scratch. I'd like to grind my own grains. Are their any recommendations on a mill? At first glance perhaps the Nutrimill? Any others? I'd also like to grind my own flax seed. The grinders for oily seeds look like cheap coffee grinders with blades. Has anyone used a blender or food processor for grinding up flax seeds? I'd appreciate some help because there doesn't seem to be much selection. Thanks, Monica Grubb
Guest guest
I have the Vitamix, it does everything. Makes soups, ice creams, total juice (seeds, skins and all), but I am not happy with it's grinding once the grains are sprouted and dried. I use it for the grains anyway. It grinds grains (not the lighter ones like amaranth) beautifully before they are sprouted. As far as a mill for grinding sprouted dried grains, I was going to ask the group if there was anyone who was getting a finely ground flour with the mill they were using when it came to the sprouted and dried grains. All grains (amoung other things) should be sprouted before eaten. Many of the sites say you can grind sprouted grains in a regular blender, before drying. The stick hand blender would work on the smaller flax seeds though. Or a mini electric chopper. Certain types of coffee grinders would work too, I have used all three for dry or sprouted. fft -- In herbal remedies , The Grubb Family <dbgrubb wrote: > > I want to be more self-sufficient than I have been and begin making food > from scratch. > > I'd like to grind my own grains.
