Real Salt / Uranium/thyroid

This has been bothering me for about two years now.

Utah has uranium, and LOTS of it. So much so they built houses with

it till the late 70's, early 80's.....

Real salt is from Utah, and has kelp in it. I just don't know how

safe this stuff is and I have recommended it to many.

Ryan Drum PhD.,AGH, I took some pieces from his article, because I

believe this is why many people have troubles with their thyroid.

Real Salt is my concern though it isn't mentioned in his article,

he's talking about iodine 131 mostly, which is pretty interesting.

http://www.ryandrum.com/thyroid1.html

" It takes about 18 minutes for all the blood in the body to pass

through the thyroid gland; it is the most thoroughly vascularized of

all the endocrine glands.

The episodic rather than regular release of iodine-131 means we get

big hits and then none at all, especially in milk and milk products.

The short half-life means that most iodine-131 taken into the body

will decay in the body rather than being excreted within the thyroid

gland, releasing unavoidably molecular-destructive gamma radiation

to nearby cell molecules.

If we are at all iodine deficient, we will readily take in

radioactive iodine-131 and deposit it in our thyroid glands just as

we do with non-radioactive iodine-127. If we have a full, ongoing

whole-body complement of iodine-127, our bodies tend to not take up

any iodine-131. This means that eating seaweeds regularly in the

diet, especially the big northern kelps, will provide both dietary

iodine and protection against the ongoing iodine-131 hazards and the

next unplanned nuclear disaster. "

WAAAAAAAAY over my head - but I want to learn more.

Should I assume that my KLAMATH " Blue Green Algae " Fresh water algae from

upper Klamath Lake is what you are perhaps referring to here ?

I have been taking 2 every morning and it has also helped curb my appetite.

Any feedback welcomed !!!

Klamath Lake is in Oregon, not Utah I use this also.

The mines where " Real Salt " a sea salt with the minerals left in it,

is mined from, almost the New Mexico boarder, wayyyy southern Utah.

I don't know if there is any uranium that far south in Utah. I am

not even sure this is an issue for Real Salt.

I didn't mean to imply that any item grown, wild crafted or just

bottled in Utah shouldn't be used. I mean if we were to try to stop

using everything that may come from an area that had nuclear plants

or radiated dust, military testing, or unminded uranium, we would

have very little left. Uranium had to be mined, like Real Salt, it

isn't like there are mountains of the stuff laying around

everyplace or anything. Many people In Utah, even close to where the

uranium was mined live to be a ripe old age, and statistically

speaking, folks from Utah are supposedly healthier than most.

If the body was getting a good supply of thick leaved kelp, the

thyroid wouldn't take in the radiated kelp. Unless of course we

heavily expose ourselves to chemicals that cause the iodine held in

the thyroid to dump. Such as chlorine, flourine, and dioxins.

Radiated kelp/iodine doesn't cause this to happen.

But, if we have somehow gotten radiated iodine into the thyroid, Dr.

Drum says kelp alone will not be enough to fix the problem, so we

should know.

I was hoping more heads than one could help with this issue. Maybe

sticking to Celtic Sea salt would be the solution. I use both

anyway......I'll do some more checking which is what I should have

done in the first place and see what I come up with.
