Bob,

We've never tried a live trap. Can we just get one at the hardware store? Was your neighbors cat a big fellow?

We have seen oppossum back there, but they're pretty small.

We moved our last few up close to the house in the brooding room, but you know how they get about their familiar place, and had a couple run back and get killed before the sun went down.

We haven't had any birds back their for months now, so hopefully the predator has moved on. We raise our meat birds out back and we also need to get some new layers later this month. Hopefully nothing will think the 'chicken buffet' is open again.

Always, Debra

Deb, have you tried a live trap? You may be surprised at what shows up in those things, we were. It was our neighbors housecat that they swore was never let outside, and even though some folks say a cat can't take down a full grown chicken, we were losing full grown Black Australorps and Rhode Island reds to this guy! After he was caught it all stopped but we still check each night before we lock up, and still on occasion will find a possum in the coop hiding in a corner. We never find coons in there but see their tracks outside. I think the coons are too smart to get themselves trapped in the coop. Just a guess. Bob.
