Guest guest
Cheryl, yes, if it was my child, I would go ahead and let the dentist pull the baby tooth to get it out of the way..........it is an easy procedure and should come out with very little trouble. Keep it rinsed with warm salt water and all should be fine. :-) Blessings,Marlene
Guest guest
My daughter had an adult tooth come in before the baby tooth had fallen out. It caused the adult tooth to grow in behind it, which is how we missed it before it was totally crooked. Now the toss up is between braces, and any problems caused by them, or simply living with a visibly crooked tooth. Hope this helps your decision some, Raine Marlene wrote: Cheryl, yes, if it was my child, I would go ahead and let the dentist pull the baby tooth to get it out of the way..........it is an easy procedure and should come out with very little trouble. Guest guest
Cheryl, My children have had similar situations with stubborn baby teeth. My son had a baby tooth that was stubborn and took a full year to slowly fall out. This is painful. Baby teeth don't have the root structure of adult teeth do so they can/should pop out easily. Next, we had an empty space for a year which was frustrating to say the least. Where's the adult tooth?? The empty space can become crouded by other teeth until there is no room for that adult tooth so I worried. Two years later the adult tooth is only a third in, but it is coming in straight. (sigh) If however the adult tooth is a little crooked and the baby tooth is not pulled then you can have permanent problems. My daughter had a baby tooth that wouldn't budge and the dentist was nasty about pulling it. The adult tooth finally came in by growing through the gum above the baby tooth. The baby tooth was finally pulled by a 'new' dentist and the adult tooth did straighten up but the gum tissue that was below the tooth is now shoved around behind it. Now she has an inscisor (sp?) that looks more like a long fang because the gum is too hugh on the outside. Furthermore, there is a sensitive knot of tissue on the inside where the excess tissue ended up which makes it difficult for chewing/biting. Also, the upper exposed area of that tooth is more sensitive so the whole area is difficult to brush and floss. I strongly recommend pulling the baby tooth.
