Guest guest
Hello All, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a food or herb that will help you dump excess iron. Seems to me, unless I'm thinking of the wrong thing, that I've heard people say that a certain food will pull your iron, so make sure you eat such and such at the same time. Does that ring a bell to anyone? Debra
Guest guest
Hi Debra, Your question is a very valuable one indeed! If one looks through all the various lists including this one you will notice a very big interest in expelling heavy metals. What you wont see is much mention of Iron. however.Mercury, Lead and other heavy metals are the culprits on most of these posts not iron. This is strange in light of the fact that Iron Overload Disease ( IOD) is by far the most common form of heavy metal poisoning and is growing.I have long battled with it and know it up front and personal. There are some chelaing agents now being researched for this purpose but till now I know of nothing really positive other than the conventional periodic bleeding to lessen the amount of it in the blood.I should say that I know of this on a conventional treatment basis. The alternative treatment involves the following: 1.Intake of a binding agent in the diet that will not allow uptake of excessive Iron in the sensitive person. These include teas made with high amounts of plant tannins. Regular Black Tea works and other alternative non caffein ones do as well. This research is based on work done on tropical birds that also have a high propensity for IOD or what is also known as Iron Storage Disease or Iron Hemochromotosis.Acidic based natural chelators to some ways of interpretation, actually enhance the uptake of iron. These include such things as Citrus. The jury is really still out on all this. 2. The use of large amounts of Cilantro fresh in the diet is also being strongly looked at as a way to unload the overload? I do not have any direct evidence of this but its well worth the try. 3. There are some very high priced drops being marketted for the purpose but unfortunately I have misplaced the name and dont remember much past this, perhaps Doc know? My research has demonstrated to me that bleeding down to an appropriate level then utilizing the tannin based natural herbals seems to control the issue really well.I am sure there are many high tannin based herbs that could be taken on a regular basis for this purpose.I utilize Green and Black Tea. These can be swallowed in a capsule or drunk as a tea along with meals.
