I was wondering if anyone could remark on this subject, please. I was

taught in culinary school to never store chopped garlic in olive oil

(or any oil for that matter) as it would cause the potential for

botulism. I have seen the ear drops formula in the files section and

it has garlic and oil in it. Could this be a potential botulism medium

as well? TIA for clarifying this for me.

I have been making my own salad dressing oil, lemon juice, herbs and lots of garlic for many years and I keep it in the frige for months on end and I have not been ill. One should keep oils refrigerated. I keep some of my aroma therapy oils in the frige. Be well, Megan justelkay <justelkay wrote: I was wondering if anyone could remark on this subject, please. I've had this same question about garlic stored in oil. With your

salad dressing though, you have enough acid (provided by the lemon

juice) to prevent botulism. The ear drops don't.

I have no idea how long the ear drops are safe. I don't know how

long it takes the botulism to develop or if there is any way, other

than adding something that raises the acid content, to keep it safe.

Just wondering, how did the people of the Biblical days "chill" their oil? Olive oil was about the only oil known and used by people thousands of years ago. They did not have fridges. I think we tend to be overly cautious about many things.
