Cheryl,

I quit smoking last July.

I feel your pain. I had started on " Endau " Herbal Harmonizing Cream. It

balances your hormones. I also take B-6 - vitamin E and 1000mg of C daily. I

prefer the orange peels from my coffee grinder for the best " C " .

I have quit before but this time I as CALM COLLECTED and FINALLY

successful. Yes - my blood pressure went up - I have never had HIGH blood

pressure before. I am 51. I have gained weight - but it is starting to come

off again - finally - patience has been key.

I also followed the advice of Dr Shillington about the whole garlic daily.

I really believe I would have returned to smoking if NOT for this group and

my other . My husband took the whole garlic and after 6 weeks of

taking it - He went to his doctor for his yearly check -up and had the best

blood pressure reading ever. Everything about your body is crazy - HIDDEN

needs are asking you for NEW things NOW.

I believe cigarettes MASK your bodies ability to tell you what it needs.

Food tastes better - You WILL feel better - You WILL heal.

I ALSO did the total body cleanse. I can't begin to tell you the benefits

here.

CONGRATULATIONS...I STAND UP AN APPLAUD YOU!!!! WAY TO GO!!! You have just given up your worst friend. I wish more people could do that. Sip on liquorice tea this will help the cravings. As for the anger buy Bach Rescue Remedy. These are flower remedies that really help in many different emotional problems. Cheryl,

Try Magnolia Bark. I use it to relieve my anxious depression and it works great. It calms as well as lifts my general mood; Puts spring in my step. It is highly recommended for people that are dieting or quitting smoking but I haven't dealt with that. Anyone else who has had experience with Magnolia Bark want to join in?

Good for you! Well for one you have been probably stuffing your anger or other emotions by lighting up for many years. I know I did. Go ahead and cry or be angry. It is good to let it out. There is a lot of sugar in cigs and most people go through major sugar cravings when they quit too. Extra C will help curb cravings. Magnesium 2-3 times a day will help calm you down and I believe Lobeila (sp?) is for tobacco addiction.

 

I just kept at it. It is hard after you have smoked for so long to give it up. I went through a depression like I lost my best friend......which in a fact was true. I always had those damn cigs with me. Be pre-pared to feel sad about it for awhile as you grieve your loss. Ciggarettes are tied up into everything you do from driving in your car, coffee, alcohol, talking on the phone......sex! and what the hell do you do now after dinner. Be kind to yourself and take nice warm hot baths.

 

If you go off and smoke one it isn't the end of the world. Some people quit many times before it actually happens.

 

Valerian might help if you can't sleep at night. Best thing though is stay off the caffeine if you can. Just makes it worse. Might want to try a detox to help your body eliminate the toxins more efficiently.

Hi Cheryl!

 

First of all, congrats!! Your body thanks you and will continue to!

You WILL start to feel better than you do now, and eventually, you'll

feel better than you ever have.

 

Second, I know...it sucks! It's very very hard. Please understand

what is really happening to you. Nicotine manipulates your brain

chemicals. It elevates your mood and you develop a tolerance to it.

So really, it is changing your brain chemistry. This is reversible!

Just not easy. How long ago did you quit? It is especially hard the

first few days. It only takes your body a few days to get rid of the

physical addiction. The longer and harder part is the " head stuff " .

 

What to do? First, get Phyllis Balch's book " Prescription for

Nutritional Healing " . She lists common ailments/health issues from

A-Z and quitting smoking is one of them! In that book she explains in

detail what's happening, offers a plethora of supplements you can

take, and gives you other very helpful misc advice. VERY good book,

has saved our butts many times for many different things!

 

Next, GET ACUPUNCTURE. This will restore the vital electromagnetic

energy currents. I know it sounds sci-fi and flaky. But our bodies

are mostly electrical currents. These subtle currents run through

channels discovered by the Chinese millennia ago, called energy

meridians. Right now, due to all the toxin that has built up in your

body, those channels are probably imbalanced like you wouldn't

believe. My mother just quit as well, and she's going for a series of

acupuncture treatments specifically to help with that. It really cuts

down on the cravings, balances your mood, and helps your body detox

faster.

 

Next, eat a balancing diet. Balancing doesn't mean a little from each

food group, in this case. Rather, I mean foods that have energy

qualities that are balancing. If you're a coffee-drinker or a

beef-eater or a chocoholic, you're gonna have a MUCH tougher time if

you don't give up those things, too. Those things, according to not

only the Chinese but many other systems of natural healing as well,

are either way too yin or way too yang, and they'll throw off your

balance, at a time when you need it and are striving for it. Rather,

eat lots of WHOLE grains, organic if possible. Eat lots of steamed

veggies (try NOT to use the microwave, it destroys and denatures all

the nutrients in your food). And when I say steamed, I mean as

LIGHTLY steamed as you can tolerate. Raw is best, but if you must

steam them, that's perfectly fine, but don't kill them ;)

 

Well goodness, I've probably overwhelmed you with my book here, but

hopefully there's something in here that's useful and beneficial for

you. I wish you lots of luck and I give you the best of my support!
