contact dermatitis from lotion and oil

Hi, I'm Scott, a long-time massage therapist, working in San Francisco.

I have a problem.. I have used massage oils and lotions for many

years, with no problem, but in the last year or so, I suddenly

developed an allergic reaction, diagnosed by a GP and also a

dermatologist, as contact dermatitis. (At it's worst, this involved

sort of weeping blisters on my fingers, and sometimes some irritations

on my arms, as well. It's possible I am reacting to other things in

my environment, but I'm sure that the massage lotion was the original

things!)

I was using Biotone lotion, and their foot-care lotion, too. The foot

care product seemed to have mostly different oils and ingredients and

also essential oils in it; that is the product that caused a major

reaction! But.. the other product also caused irritation and some skin

reaction too, and I couldn't figure out what, if any ingredients were

in both.

Since then, I've been using almond oil, which is better, but still

slightly irritating.

I'd welcome any ideas about how to help myself to _not_ have this

reaction, as well. Perhaps my system is acidic, or something? I know

someone can help me with this as I've heard that other massage

therapists have developed reactiosn to massage lotion or oils.

Is there something topical that could relieve the itching and

" weeping " ? I have used cortisone creme on it, which worked, but I'm

out of that, right now.

If you have any suggestions on a very simple, natural massage oil

and/or lotion that doesn't contain chemicals, nut oils (?), or coconut

oil, I'd appreciate a post, preferably private, as i have a hard time

keeping up with the volume of posts on this list. (I'll be looking for

a reply on the site, too, though.. : )

Thanks in advance for your help..

Scott.
