Darlene,

Sometimes, well, most times actually, when I cleanse I have similar trouble. I have an unstable sacrum from an old injury to my pelvis and L4 & 5 and S1.

What happens when I cleanse is that because of the more frequent bathroom visits and increased volume, my sacrum will move out of alignment. Also the amount of intra-abdominal pressure is different due to the frequency as well; which for me also contributes to the pain.

Sometimes it will come back into alignment by itself at the end of the cleanse, but then, sometimes I have to go to the chiropractor.

Hope that helps. Debra

Hmmm, funny you say that because I have a similar problem with having had back labour since my daughter was facing the wrong way because she was 5 weeks premature. I also had problems with sciatica when I was pregnant. The pain I feel is like sciatica running down BOTH sides. The pain has lessened in severity both yesterday and today. My hips are not feeling quite as intense and I can actually roll on my side for a brief period without screaming.

I started Intestinal Cleanse #2 today, and I am feeling quite full after I took my first dose this morning. I guess that's normal, right? I could barely finish the 8 oz of water after taking the dose, and I felt quite nauseous. Nausea has passed now.

Thanks for writing!

Darlene,

I'm not as strong as you, I have only done juice fasts. The year before last, I was doing a three day juice fast the first three days of each month. It was so easy then. Now that I've turned 40, so much has changed and it is so much more difficult for me to do a cleanse.

I'd really like to be able to wrap my head around it and do the entire cleanse program that's listed in the files. But right now I'm really struggling; constantly doubting myself and how my body feels, which just puts the brakes on. I don't know, maybe it's hormones, maybe it's the grey of winter.

Any way, while you are cleansing, or if you're still having the pain, put a cold pack on your low back for 20 min or so; and be sure to keep your knees pulled up while you're laying. Also you may want to try some Keigle (sp) exercises. Sometime I can do them and they help, other times they make my inside, around the sacrum feel kind of squirrelly. And the best thing I find, if my sacrum won't settle down on it's own, is to go to the chiropractor and get a psoas adjustment. A good massage therapist may be able to help you out with that too.

I've wanted to do a total body cleanse for a long, long time but I've been nursing the past few years so I haven't been able to the cleanse for that reason. Since my daughter recently weaned herself, I planned to start the cleanse after the New Year and am now into my 2nd week. We are planning to have another baby this year, so that's another motivation for me.

I've been doing hot and cold showers, which have been helping. Also lying on a heating pad at night feels great and that's how I've been falling asleep. Problem was that the pain returned once I got off the heating pad. The good news is that the pain is 85% gone, so I am very pleased about that! I was going to visit my massage therapist on Saturday if it wasn't any better, but I improved significantly over the weekend.

Thanks, again, for writing, Debra. I appreciate it!
