When making herbal teas can you use powder form? How exactly do you

make the tea? I have read that you pour boiling water over the herbs,

cover and let them steep for 30 minutes and strain but will the powder

strain and is this the right directions?

Hi Marci I usually buy the herbs that are broken up and take my thumb, index and middle finger and grab the herbs and put them in a boiling pot of water and let them simmer for about about 10 minutes. Put a lid on the pot and let is stand for about 30 minutes. At night just before I go to bed I will make a herbal medicinal tea the same way and then let it sit over night. Reheat in the morning, strain and drink I use the herbal powder for taking orally or for making capsules. If I am taking a herbal powder orally I will put a little water on a spoon add the herb to the water and swallow it. Then grab a large glass of water and guzzle. ___________________ Marci I've always encapsulated the powdered herbal root...add to water or juice (room temperature) before administering. INFUSIONS are made by pouring the hot water over the raw or powered herb and steeping the preparation to extract their active ingredients. When using the method of infusion, it may minimize any loss of evaporative properties. The typical amounts are about 1/2 to 1 ounce of herbs to a pint of water. It is best to use enamel, glass or porcelain container to steep the herbs for about 10 to 20 minutes. The conainer is then covered with a firm fitting lid to avoid any evaporative properties.
