I have also tried slim fast and with that program I gained more weight. As though when I stopped the slimfast that weight came back off. What is a good approach to losing weight safe, natural and healthy at the same time. I cook every night we do not eat out very often. I drink h2o alot and stay on the move with three kids. Also,, it is not possible to spot lose weight - your body decides how and where it sheds the weight from. Women tend to lose weight in the hip and upper leg area last - while men tend to lose it from the gut area last. --- Bundy Good judgment is gained through experience. ANY DIET THAT DOES NOT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION 1. THE AMOUNT OF CALORIES TAKEN IN, 2. HIGH QUALITY NUTRITION, AND 3. EXERCISE IS DESTRUCTIVE TO THE BODY!!!!!! Many People don't want to hear this and they want the Super-Duper-Fix-It-All-One-Shot Cure with NO effort on their part. Even your "natural" ephedra products are destructive if they don't take into consideration the above. You have to add exercise into the equation. There are no alternatives here. Use it or Lose it!!!! Guest guest Posted January 19, 2006 Report Share Posted January 19, 2006 Hi Mrs. Lewis, You are facing the same problem that most people face and do not understand because of a lack of improper info and understanding. The major part of the problem is related to the Diet. If one does not get much exercise then one needs to pay close detail to what one eats. 1st any problem in the area of big gut appearances or after child birth bulge is the diet leading up to this problem, did not contain foods with enough Alkaline minerals to neturalize the acids produced by the body from the foods eaten. It is impossible for one to be FAT or OVERWEIGHT, if one's Diet consists of the proper foods and doesn't contain foods which cause the body to become Acidic, and if one learns to AVOID eating Any Proteins and refined carbohydrates for an evening meal before going to bed!!!! (( Eating a heavy meal as such before bed time causes the body to become very Acidic, because when you go to sleep, you slow down your breathing, thus reducing the amount of Oxygen (Oxygen is highly Alkaline )and a lack of Oxygen allows the body to become very Acidic!! If the body contains enough Oxygen, it is impossible to be too Acidic, because the Oxygen will neutralize the acids. It will be like hanging a wet sponge, which is all swelled up to a big size, out on a clothes line and exposing it to oxygen rich air, which will cause the sponge to lose all it's water and reduce back down in size to a little dry sponge again. (Is this what you want to happen for your tummy, for it to reduce back to a smaller size)? One may ask what causes a body to become Acidic , if one is new to this idea? I will try to explain, but you will need to do some research about the subject also. An acidic condition is just a condition where there is a lower body pH, which is because of a Higher level of Hydrogen in relation to the Oxygen levels ( this is a simple answer). Now when one has a higher level of Hydrogen, this means the body will carry a higher level of Water, because water is two parts of Hydrogen (H) and one part of Oxygen (O), so the problem is just that the body is retaining too much Hydrogen (water,H2O). The reason for the body being too acidic is because of the Diet, but the reason for this is because the Diet contain foods which cause the body to hold onto the water, within the internal cell structure. For if one would eat foods which cause the cell structure to internally lose their water, then the body would lose it's excess water thru it's waste system. What determines if a cell retains it's moisture on the inside or allows the moisture to release to the outside of the cell-structure is the ratio of the sodium to the potassium in the foods which we eat. A diet high in sodium in ratio to the potassium will cause the cell to retain it's water, causing you to be overweight! A diet high in Potassium in ratio to the sodium, will cause the cell to lose all it's water, causing you to become very skinny and even die if this is taken to the extreme!! People Die because of Diets which cause one to have a High Potassium Nitrate level in the body, because this stops the Oxygen and closes it off in the body.( this is the reason for many Crib Deaths in children), the children become suffocated from lack of Oxygen to the Brain!! For there are balances which the body needs to stay Healthy and fresh fruits and vegetables which are grown properly and contain high amounts of Alkaline minerals, will provide your body with the balances it needs to be healthy. One may not be or stay healthy by eating improperly and trying to make up for this injustice by Pill popping, so to speak. Also, if a persons diet lacks phosphate of copper in their diet , then the skin contains no elasticity and when it streches out it has a problem with not being able to reform back into it's original shape, so one may may need to take some copper suplement to help correct the problem. Here are some simple guidelines to lose weight and keep it off: Do not eat a heavy meal containing Protein and Refined Carbohydrates before going to bed. Instead, eat a salad (no meat) and or have a lite soup (onion, carrot, celery, etc. vegetable soup minus white potatoes)for an evening meal. Also if you start to have problems losing to much weight too fast (fatty acids are being released into the body as one loses weight), and start feeling sick in any way, then you need to eat some kind of complexed carbohydrate of an even ( like a sweet potatoe,this will break down slowly, and provide you a slow release of energy) and slow down your weight loss , so you don't overload your body with to much fatty acids trying to leave your body too fast , causing you to become very acidic and feel very sick. Also stop drinking soft drinks and drink water instead. Also start eating your heavy meal in the middle of your day while you are more active , so you have more Oxygen to help digest the Meats and other Proteins. Also , and this is very important, stop eating any kind of Refined and or Processed foods, for these All will cause your body to become Acidic= get FAT!! The foods needed in your diet which will help you the most are All vegetables in the Low Glycemic index ratings! These are the cole crops, especially Broccoli, Cabbage, Brussel sprouts, Collards and other greens, but the first three are the most important. For anyone wishing to loose weight, you may purchase yourself some pH tape or strips from your local drug store and test your saliva and urine first thing in the morn before eating anything to determine how acidic you are. As you then eat different foods you may record what you eat for the day and learn what foods make you more acidic and which foods make you alkaline, this way you can learn for yourself and don't have to believe me or anyone else about your problems and solutions. Another important step for most people is you need to provide an aid to correct your digestion or lack of it in your stomach. For this I would recomend you purchase a good quality Probotics which is high strength and contains Acidophlus and Bifidus! The proper way to take this is when you get up in the morning , to first drink some water to flush out your excess acids from your stomach first , then Take the probotics with a glass of skim milk, use only skim milk (( do not use any kind of milk which has been homogonized, which contains any milk fat in it, because the body Can Not digest milk with Homogonized Fat in it))!!!!! If you have digestion problems, then one may take the probotics before each meal as mentioned above and recieve unbelivable results!! My nephew's wife has been pregnant recently and was having the normal problem of aches and pains and bloated stomach etc, and she purchase some good Probotics and takes as mentioned above and All her problems went away within 3 days!! The reason for people being allergic to milk products is mostly related to the above problem of Homogonized milk Fats which it is impossible for the body to Digest!! This applys to anykind of food which contains milk fats in it(ice-cream , dressings with milk fat,etc). I may explain why this is at a later time?
