Guest guest
Cindy gave good tips for all aspiring lotion makers. Another thing you can do if you are making all natural lotions is to keep them refrigerated. This will not necessarily prevent, but may slow down any possible " critter " activity. For my personal use only, I have had good luck with experiments which included but were not limited to a couple of drops of 35% hydrogen peroxide, colloidal silver and/or various herbal tinctures and essential oils. I certainly didn't use all of these in one lotion, but had fun using different ones. I didn't keep track of dates or anything, but everything I tried stayed clean of any OBVIOUS bacteria or mold. Many times problems are not visible and I certainly didn't have them lab tested. When I had a business selling these kinds of things though, I ALWAYS used Germaben or a similar commercial product. Since I now live in a high humidity area (well, it's supposed to be anyway) I make few lotions these days...preferring salves (no water) made with infused oils. Guest guest
What I wonder how to make it into like burts bess facial lotions, I dont see how the oils turn into lotion, I must be doing something wrong. Guest guest
Gina- I have not used any of Burts Bees products. Is this a true lotion or cream? A lotion contains more water/liquid than a cream. Oils alone, do not make a lotion. I would be happy to share a formula or two for easy to make creams/lotions if anyone is interested. You will be amazed how easy it is and fun, too. If you can follow a recipe to cook, you can make skin care products. cindy > What I wonder how to make it into like burts bess facial lotions, I dont see how the oils turn into lotion, I must be doing something wrong.
