Guest guest
On several different health lists I am on I have seen dozens of posts which blame parasitews for all sorts of human problems -- from diabetes to arthritis. It seems there are people who feel that a controlled parasitic infestation of the right parasite can cure some human problems. I am sure not advocating intentionally eating worms. I would have to think long & hard, and do a lot of research before I even considered infecting myself. Alobar ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Immunotherapy using Probiotic Helminthic Therapy Probiotic Immunotherapy safely and naturally restores nature’s balance to your immune system, quells inflammation, and stops tissue damage. Helminthic therapy, nature's most powerful probiotic, harnesses nature to heal, restoring the helper organisms we co-evolved with and that our immune systems depend on to function correctly, and is based on sound science. Stop treating the symptoms, fix the problem. Learn more, including how this natural immunotherapy can be delivered to your door. http://autoimmunetherapies.com/ --\ ----------------- About the immunotherapy helminthic therapy Helminthic therapy is a safe and effective immunotherapy that actually treats the underlying causes of autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammatory conditions and allergies. Autoimmune Therapies was founded by Jasper Lawrence and Dr. Marc Dellerba, PhD., in 2006, to make available the immunotherapy Jasper Lawrence had used to put his own severe allergies and asthma into remission after discovering early research. Immunotherapy based on the use of helminths was the obvious result of an theory published in the Lancet called “The Hygiene Hypothesis.” Hundreds of research projects investigating this scientific hypothesis since it was published in 1986 have refined it from its relatively simple beginning. It is now called the “Old Friends Hypothesis,” reflecting how much it has been adapted to fit new discoveries. Because it works so well to describe the rise of immunological diseases in the West it is now widely accepted and used, and this is shown by how commonly it is referenced in articles about these diseases: news link. For a fuller explanation you can read this article written by us: link. As you read through our web site and the scientific and medical literature you will begin to understand that some helminths really are “old friends” and that their absence in our increasingly sterile lives has resulted in a huge increase in the number of people with diseases involving immune dysregulation*. Here is a statement of the Old Friends Hypothesis in very simple terms. It is now thought by many scientists, but by no means all, that the human immune system depends upon exposure to a variety of organisms, in particular helminths, for proper development and functioning. The reason for this may be that as we have evolved as a species these mutualistic symbionts (less correctly but more commonly referred to as parasites) have always been present in our bodies. This is an example of co-evolution, in which two species evolve together. The sudden absence of these parasites is now believed by many scientists to be a major factor in the malfunction of many people’s immune systems, resulting in an increase in immunological diseases. That this is true is most obvious when you look at the number of people suffering from autoimmune diseases in the sterile industrialized countries. Third world countries, where there is poor sanitation, and hence high level of parasitic infection (like many in Africa, Asia and South America) do not have high levels of diseases like Type I Diabetes, MS, Crohn’s, Asthma, allergies, Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis. These are diseases that are reaching epidemic levels here. As we have made our environments increasingly sterile we have eliminated most of these organisms from our bodies and the result is that our immune systems do not develop or function properly. It is no coincidence that all the so called modern diseases started to become more common after the introduction of clean drinking water, sewers, antibiotics and vaccinations. This idea may sound strange at first. To understand it, think of the human body as an ecosystem. An ecosystem only works properly when there is a variety and balance of interdependent organisms. Eliminating so many species from our bodies has had two effects: 1. Huge benefits to our health from the effective elimination of harmful organisms such as those which cause cholera, typhoid, measles, mumps, tuberculosis, etc. 2. An unexpected and unwelcome increase in the so called modern diseases, such as allergies, asthma, autism, Crohn’s, MS, and even depression and heart disease arising from the elimination of beneficial helper organisms. We have thrown out the baby with the bath water. Helminthic therapy is just one step in restoring the natural environment in our intestines to a state similar to that that existed as we evolved. There is little doubt that bacteria and perhaps protozoa, viruses or fungi could also provide health benefits. The growing probiotic industry is an indication of the possibilities for these types of immunotherapy. But even at this early stage in the development of this idea for some diseases the re-introduction of helminths can have remarkable benefits. At present, Autoimmune Therapies offers treatment based on human hookworm (Necator americanus) and human whipworm (Trichuris trichiura). Our whipworm should not be confused with treatment using pig whipworm (Trichuris suis ova, or TSO) offered in Europe by Ovamed. Although several different types of worms and other organisms are currently being investigated for their potential therapeutic benefits, by us and by various universities and medical schools, hookworm and whipworm are offered by Autoimmune Therapies because of their safety. That they are safe is demonstrated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendation that American doctors should not treat light infections of hookworm or whipworm in their patients. What does helminthic therapy consist of and how do I learn more? Autoimmune Therapies offers a wide variety of treatment options tailored to your age, gender, the type and duration of your illness, the drugs you currently use, medical history, and current blood tests. Treatment is designed to minimize the temporary mild side effects a minority of our patients experience. Treatment is accomplished by deliberate infection with either hookworm, or whipworm, or both, providing a unique immunotherapy. We understand that with a new and complex immunotherapy like this, support before and after therapy is a vital part of the service we offer. Not only do we guarantee that your infection will remain for the documented average of the lifetime of each organism (so long as our clients host “our” worms) but we also support them as required. For more information about treatment before contacting us please visit the rest of this site. Details on pricing can be found on the Pre-treatment Page. *Autoimmunity is a disease in which the immune system mistakenly recognizes self tissues as foreign, and attacks them. Asthma, amongst many, is not an autoimmune disease by this definition. In asthma the body recognizes benign particles, like cat dander or pollen, as pathogens. In attacking them self tissues are also harmed. Asthma, like most diseases commonly thought to be autoimmune conditions, are more properly referred to as diseases of immune dysregulation. It is possible that anyone with a chronic inflammatory condition, or one involving immune dysregulation, could benefit. But, it is impossible to predict in advance if a person with an autoimmune disease and or allergy will respond. The only way to test it is to try helminthic therapy. Diseases that have been shown to respond are: Asthma, Autism, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Eczema, Hay fever and allergies of all kinds, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Migraine, Multiple Sclerosis, Psoriasis, and Sjogren's Syndrome. Response of patients with Ulcerative Colitis to hookworm alone has not been satisfactory, but has responded very well to whipworm. It is important to note that while effective immune therapy like ours offers a chance of remission, not a cure. Meaning, that if you get better staying better depends on continuing to host the worms. http://autoimmunetherapies.com/helminthic_therapy_FAQ.html
