So we have realized that my son has a gluten intolerance (myself also) I was

wondering if there are any ways to help his gut heal. My son is 2 and has now

been off gluten for about 3 months. His bowel movements are much better with out

gluten but sometimes he gets a few undigested bowel movement and it gets me back

to worrrying. He also can not drink milk so I think he has a allergy to this

also. Is there a non invasive allergy test that any one knows of also?

Thanks so much

Hi Tracy,

You can have a small blood test done (finger prick) which can test a lot of food

intolerances. Here in the UK I'd use York test, but I believe in the US you

should check with Genova Diagnostics (http://www.genovadiagnostics.com/) or a

similar company.

Is there anyone you could have him see a naturopathic doctor or nutritionist?

In an adult, for such things, I would recommend healing the gut lining (i.e.

leaky gut protocol with L-glutamine powder and liquid aloe vera taken

internally) and working on building up digestion and the immune systems, but I

am hesitant to recommend dosages here for an infant because I don't know.

Hope that helps

Sharon

I know that for celiac disease they can do a saliva swab from your mouth. You

can also look into urine and stool tests.

Here are a couple of places that do them, I am sure there are many more:

I have heard that gluten intolerance and milk allergies go

hand in hand. I myself have both. I have found several products that

help - 1 is aloe vera for the digestive tract - found it at the health

food store.

Glutagenics by Metagenics is for healing the stomach lining. Chew able

dyglicirized Licorice helps with minor indigestion. I also visited a

chinease herbalist and he said to also avoid citrus (lemons, limes,

oranges)

as these are very hard on a sensitive stomach, soy and all products with

soy,

and green tea. I tested his recommendations and agree with them. Every

time

I eat any of these, I pay for it with indigestion.

I also acquired a book called " Breaking the vicious cycle " Intestinal

health through

diet by Elaine Gottschall, BA, MSC. This helped alot in understanding

my problem

and ultimately led me to where I am today - without symptoms.

I don't know of any non-invasive allergy test except for paying

attention to the body's reaction to food. I went thru an elimination

diet which

is limiting the foods you eat to a small group, then after a time you

add back into your diet one food at a time. You eat that food for

3 days and pay attention to how you feel.

Good Luck!

I just want to thank, so much, everyone who contributed to " digestive health "

information. I found it fascinating and informative. I totally plan on trying

some of the suggestions. Thank you again for taking the time and energy to share

this valuable information all.
