Guest guest
> Hi All > Does anyone know of a good cleanser for teenage acne ? > my son is 14 yrs old and has a slight case of it. > Thanks > Sofia Hi Sofia, Be sure that whatever he uses isn't abrasive as that could aggravate the acne worse. Also, keep in mind that alcohol based cleansers strip TOO much oil from the skin and can make skin even oilier by fooling it into thinking that it needs to produce more oil. Raw honey is good for helping clear blemishes, and so is tea tree oil. So maybe a concoction of some raw honey and a few drops of tea tree oil in a soap bar would be a good wash, or even just those ingredients mixed with some liquid castile soap. Below I am posting a mask recipe (IF you can get a 14 yr old boy to do a mask *lol* Good luck <grinz>) Also, I am reposting message from the archives with has a recipe for a leave on blemish formula from Karleen ... *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blemish Mask 1 tsp each: barley powder green clay raw honey yogurt 1 drop tea tree oil Make into a paste. Spread on skin. Leave on for up to an hour. Rinse with warm water, pat dry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Karleen O'Connor [karleen7] Thursday, October 07, 2004 4:37 PM <snipped> Hi Chris, I have been struggling with blemish, senitive skin for years, and tried many different formulas. This is the one that keeps it in check. Not a lotion or cream but an oil based formula that is applied to face, then any excess is wiped off. 1oz bottle 1/2 oz hazelnut or sweet almond oil 1/4 oz Foraha oil, aka Tamanu oil 1/8 oz Rose hip seed 1/8 oz Borage oil, or evening prim rose 5 drops Frankincense CO2 or just the eo 2 drop Helichrysum (italicuum) I sometimes play around with the oils, adding a little jojoba or Hemp, by adjusting the the amount of Hazelnut oil. But mostly I just use the above recipe. I apply this in the morning before any makeup, Foundation only, and in the evening before bed. Works for me. Guest guest
Tea Tree is sold in very expensive 'chemical concoctions' here in the UK for teenage acne. They all strip the skin which is exactly what you don't want for over-productive glands and sensitive teenage skin. How about the green clay talked about today for wounds, mixed with a hydrolat (or plain water or liquid castille soap as Christine suggests) and a few drops of tea tree (or any other anti-infectious oil). Rub it in gently like a face scrub/wash ... avoiding the eyes! ... and leave for a little while before rinsing off. Good jojoba oil doesn't block the pores. A tea tree blend in jojoba applied after washing would replenish skin moisture and treat/heal. Guest guest
This sounds good to me and I want to make a batch for me and my girls, I still break out like a teenager. How much do you use, enough to make like a paste? I wouldn't have guessed that jojoba would be good for oily acne skin, now will have to make some of that also. THanks sor sharing this! Guest guest
Hi Starr Did you make them up? Sorry I've been away so didn't reply before. Yes, the green clay (or any other colour clay - see my earlier post about Argiletz - they had great recipes/ideas too) should be mixed to a creamy paste. It dries out when it's on the skin. Hope it's helping you and your girls. Jane PS: It's also said that too much dairy in your diet will make you break out - I know it has that effect on me if I eat too much yoghurt. And, of course, anti-biotics and growth hormones are routinely fed to cattle and it's been shown they come through strongly in the milk. Just an additional thought for acne .... which can often be hormonal anyway. - Starr Friday, October 29, 2004 3:19 AM Re: Teenage acne This sounds good to me and I want to make a batch for me and my girls, I still break out like a teenager. Guest guest
My son is doing the normal routine on his face by washing with glycerin soap twice daily and using " benzoil peroxide " but he is losing the battle to his acne. What other approach should he consider to keep his zits at bay? Chris

Chris > Hi Chris, Many are now using cod liver oil-the kind with the natural A and d still in it (some have them replaced by synthetics). It does not take very much at the time, but is best done twice a day. It also may take a few weeks, but is worth the wait. Also extra virgin coconut oil can be useful. It is even good to heal scars. My long time scars, and blotches look better. Cindy C.
