He has forwarded it to me for response. I知 pleased to inform you that on June 18, 2009 the government announced its intention to ban over 200 over-the-counter lawn care pesticides from sale and use in the Province. New Brunswick is the first Atlantic Province, and the third in Canada, to adopt a comprehensive product ban on lawn care pesticides. The product ban targets lawn care pesticide products on the retail market that are most likely to be overused or misused. This includes combination fertilizer/pesticide products, granular spreadable pesticides, hose-end products, and lawn care products that require measuring, mixing or dilution by the homeowner. Information is now available on our website about the ban and how lawns can be managed without relying on routine pesticide spraying. I would encourage you to visit the New Brunswick Department of Environment website (_http://www.gnb.ca/0009/0369/0024/index-e.asp_ (http://www.gnb.ca/0009/0369/0024/index-e.asp) ) where this information is displayed. In the coming weeks, more information will be made available on the site. In the meantime, if you need more information please feel free to contact the Department of Environment, Stewardship Branch at (506) 453-7945. Thank you again for your continued interest in this subject. Sincerely, Hon. Thomas J. Burke, Q.C. Minister of Environment
