if it's under your arch it may well be plantar fasciitis rather than achilles

tendonitis which could be anywhere on the achilles tendon that attaches to the

back/base of the heel.

I would be thinking that it has a possibility of being plantar fasciitis... I'd

look into:

getting an arch support over the counter like the ones made by spenco... THEY'RE

ABOUT 20 BUCKS  and often work better than the custom made 400 dollar ones which

are too rigid and cause more tissue compression which can reduce blood flow and

worsen the problem.

adding vit c and related compounds found in fruits and berries would also be

something I'd suggest that you look into seriously\

herbs that assist with inflammation such as turmeric might be worthy of

consideration as well.

Adjustment of activities to reduce long periods of standing, or # and severity

of episodes of impact may also be helpful.

the plantar fascia covers and interconnects much of the tissue on the bottom of

the foot. It's more or less or an interconnective web that holds everything

together...

fascia thickness and integrity can be effected by :

fibro myalgia

vit c deficiency

foot pronation or supination

repeated impact from running, jumping, gymnastics,

long periods of standing

poor shoes

generally poor diet

Generally it comes when you first step/hop/ jump down, and may vary in location

and severity from mild to severe as a deep and ongoing ache.. that can be quite

distracting

I would no rule out other causes though such as a more significant injury to the

area
