Guest guest
I would look into the Omega 8006 juicer. It seems to have everything, including juicing fruits and vegetables, citrus fruits, wheat grass, coffee grinder, etc. It has an auger that is eight times harder than the previous model, so will probably last a lifetime. A few years ago I bought the Jack Lalane juicer for $100 and it cracked in half after a short time. You get what you pay for. Now I have to buy another one, and will get this Omega one. Those cheaper ones produce some heat which kills the enzymes and thus destroyes some of the nutrition you are trying to get. Good luck, Kat winningoutcome <winningoutcome Mon, 18 May 2009 7:02 pm << >> Which Juicer? I am hoping to finally get a Juicer, but my goodness, I didn't realize there are so many different ones on the market. I am just starting out, so I would really appreciate any guidance from the expert juicers in the group. Thanks!
Guest guest
Depends on what you want and how much you are willing to pay. This gives a good quick summary of the types of juicers: http://www.wholisticresearch.com/info/artshow.php3?artid=345 The masticating juicers are generally considered to be the best because they get the most juice out of fruit and veg. However, they are expensive, take some effort to clean, and take up a lot of counter space. But if you are going to use it a lot or are on a special therapy like the Plaskett or Gerson cancer treatment then this is probably the best choice. Personally - I have a Philips centrifugal - it gets a good bit of juice out, takes up about as much counter space as a food processor, I thought is was reasonably priced, is easy to clean and all the parts are dishwasher safe if you're not into washing up the old fashioned way. Also another thing to consider - my Philips juicer has a shoot big enough so you can put most things through without any or much slicing and dicing by hand. I had a juicer prior to this and I had to chop up everything - even small apples. Too much hassle so I ended up not using it much at all. I use my new centrifugal juicer several times per week. Hope that helps! Sharon
