Guest guest
I keep juicing at a minimum; at most 2, max., 3 glasses a day. I choose from among the most delicious vegetables, mostly carrots, celery, and no fruits, with the possible exception of apples. To go much beyond that point, is to make juicing a fad, to deny your dental structures and oral secretions, and body, the essential function of thorough chewing of whole foods. If it were me, I'd take all those supplements, " kelp, gelatin, etc., " the same way; distributed, thoughtfully, through the day, and taken in association, once more, with whole foods. jp - seashelll30 Tuesday, April 14, 2009 4:40 PM << >> Switching to Raw food diet, sore throat coming on, and can I eat the orange peel I am just juicing everything now, and the whole orange, and mango with skins on, I am getting a sore throat, after 4 days of major juicing with beets, greens, carrots, celery, oranges, mangos, strawb. I am adding in Kelp, geletin, glucosomane, and mangosteen, as well as aloe vera and trace minerals in my juicing. I am now getting a sore throat, and burping up some. Also, my eyes are watering more than normal. Am I going at this too strong? Is it ok to juice the whole orange, including the peels too? It tastes somewhat bitter, but I thought it was ok. Is this a detox symptom? Thank you in advance for your answers. Guest guest
Hello Gina, The sore throat and other adverse reactions are probably caused by the mango skins and from skins of other fruits. Mother Nature puts compounds in the skins of fruits/seeds to ward off consumers/predators (bugs, insects, animals). We tolerate some compounds, some compounds we don't, perhaps juicing the whole orange exceeds your particular threshold. Mangos are in the same family as the cashew nut. Cashew skins are removed b/c they are too caustic for humans. Mangos have the same protective oils.
