Memo sent home with students - February 29, 2008

Dear Parent:

This letter is to inform you that students and staff in your child’s school

have severe allergies to peanuts, fish and scented products (perfumes, body

sprays, Axe, Tag, Colognes, etc.) It is important that there is strict

avoidance to these foods and products in order to prevent life-threatening

allergic

reactions. We are asking your help to provide the students with a safe

school environment.

Any exposure to peanuts/nuts, fish or scented products may cause a

life-threatening allergic reactions that require emergency medical treatment.

To

reduce the chance of this occurring, we are asking that you do not send any

peanut, fish or scented products to school with your child . If your child has

eaten peanuts/nuts, or fish before coming to school, please be sure your

child’s

hands and face have been thoroughly washed before entering the school. As

well, please encourage your child to wear scent-free products to school.

In creating a safe and caring environment at Crescent Collegiate, we respect

the symptoms experienced by staff and students when exposed to peanuts, fish

and scented products. As a result, the use of scented products, and peanut

and the eating of peanuts, and fish products will not be allowed within the

building at any time. In addition, all materials used for cleaning will be

scent-free (where ever possible).

Students, staff, parents and visitors will be informed of this policy

through signs posted in the building, our policy handbook, promotional materials
