Guest guest
Hello - My name is Christine. I'm new to this group. I've had arthritis since age 2. I had a thr in 04. Now, it's being recommended that I have a total knee replacement & a r hip as well. I'm only 40. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in surgery. However, I also can't bear the pain much longer as it's draining my spirit & limiting my activity a lot. I am very active when I can be. I love to ski & bike. I have a 3yo son that I want to be able to do these things with. My rheumatologist recently put me on Enbrel. Don't feel any better yet. Dr. Dunn in Fla (iagh.com) says he can regrow cartilage & fix me without surgery. However, I'd have to feel confident it could work to go there, because I live out west. I'd have to give up my job & relocate for 2 months, plus find childcare & transportation to appointments. It would be a huge expense & committment, but worth it if it works. He seems really professional & smart. My only frustration Is that he doesn't seem to have much time to answer my questions & this is one of the biggest decisions of my life - anyone have any info or advice thank you - peace Christine

Guest guest
I haven't heard of Dr Dunn, but have heard of an treatment that causes the cartilage to grow back. It is called Prolotherapy and I understood that Dr Faber was the expert on this in the States. There are quite a few doctors in the States though that practise this - I think the number was 250. I have posted a few articles here recently about Prolotherapy. Below is also a url to find a doctor whom practises this. I have the article below by Dr Faber on 'biological reconstruction' on a Word document too - email me at >surpriseshan2< if you would like it. biological reconstruction - alternative to hip prosthesis by Dr. William J. Guest guest
Christine There is a very good website for arthritis. They are dedicated to finding true treatments and a cure for all forms of arthritis. My environmental doctor has been using their protocol for at least 10 years to successfully treat and cure all forms of arthritis. I also have a friend whom this doctor treated 10 years ago using this treatment and she has not had any pain nor arthritis since. Her hands were so bad that there were like claws. She was only in her late 30s at the time. It is actually at this website that I first heard of Prolotherapy. I had been looking for information on how to grow back hip and knee cartilage for over a year. Good luck! blessings Shan WHAT WE STAND FOR We tell folks how to get well from so-called incurable auto-immune or collagen tissue diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and related diseases. " The authors also state: " Thus, antibiotic therapy appears to be associated with the ability to maintain a majority of patients with RA in either a stable or an improved clinical state over a longer period of time with a lower degree of toxicity, with no serious side effects. Most of the calcium preparations that are touted through news media do not work on many women, mainly because for the most part they are calcium carbonate or some calcium compound of equal difficulty to absorb. According to Pizzarno and Murray's Textbook of Natural Medicine2, " Recently there has been an incredible push for supplementing calcium in an effort to halt bone loss. While this appears to be sound medical advice, osteoporosis is much more than a lack of dietary calcium. It is a complex condition involving hormonal, lifestyle, nutritional, and environmental factors. " According to William Campbell Douglass1, M.D., as reported in " Death, Taxes and Osteoporosis " , over forty percent of women over [the age of] fifty produce less stomach acid than normal. Without stomach acid, calcium carbonate, and like compounds, cannot be utilized. Therefore they do not solve the osteoporotic problem. http://www.arthritistrust.org/Articles/OsteoporosisPreventionAndTreatment.pdf http://www.arthritistrust.org/Articles/Treatment%20 & %20Prevention%20of%20Osteopo\ rosis.pdf Arthritics and Osteoporosis Anthony di Fabio http://www.arthritistrust.org/Articles/Arthritics%20And%20Osteoporosis.pdf Lymphatic Detoxification http://www.arthritistrust.org/Articles/Lymphatic%20Detoxification.pdf LYMPH DRAINAGE THERAPY Three main actions of lymphatic drainage are: 1) Stimulation of body fluid circulation. It activates lymph function and lymph circulation. Indirectly stimulate the blood circulation of the Body (enhance blood capillaries resorption, increase pulsation of capillaries, activate venous circulation, . . .). 2) Stimulation of the immune system: the passage of lymph in the lymph nodes stimulate the immune system (the humoral as much as well as the cellular immunity). The stimulation of lymph circulation activate antigen/antibody presentation and immune reactions. 3) Nervous sytem: stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (relaxation effect, antispastic effects -- muscle tonus -- , etc). The constant stimulation of the C-fiber mechanoreceptors has inhibitory effects (analgesic -anti-pain-action). http://www.arthritistrust.org/Articles/Lymph%20Drainage%20Therapy.pdf OSTEOARTHRITIS: LITTLE KNOWN TREATMENTS by ANTHONY DI FABIO AND PAUL JACONELLO, M.D. Osteoarthritis involves loss of joint cartilage, death of cells beneath the cartilage and also cartilage and bone proliferation at the joint margins with bony growth formations. Osteoarthritis often includes inflammation of the tissue around the fluid-filled sacs (bursae) surrounding joints -- which would otherwise be subject to friction without these sacs -- and tendon sheaths (synovium). As Osteoarthritis appears to be caused by a combination of factors -- hormonal deficiencies, faulty nutrition, stress, deficient enzymes -- each of these should be attended to. More accurately, each individual's problem must be studied and evaluated for characteristic uniqueness, that breakthrough treatment modality. http://www.arthritistrust.org/Articles/Osteoarthritis%20Little%20Known%20Treatme\ nts.pdf The Nature of Rheumatoid Disease 1.
