Guest guest
My Dad has been on Valium for over 30 years and his doctor wants to take him off. They are going to start the process of weaning him off. My Dad would like to try some natural/alternative treatments to deal with his " nerves " - he has severe anxiety. Does anyone have recommendations of anything to help with anxiety? Anything from supplements to accupuncture...I'm open to anything. Thanks, Paula
Guest guest
For myself I've found that vitamin C, I take 2.5 grams every 4 or 5 hours, plus Bcomplex, 200mg naicinimide (in addition to the Bcomplex) does the trick. You might also want to try some magnesium and or tryptophan, both have a soothing effect on the nerves. , " Paula " <pokeracepj wrote: > > My Dad has been on Valium for over 30 years and his doctor wants to take him off. Guest guest
Gaba, Taurine, L-Theanine, and 5-HTP have a similar effect to Valium. Guest guest
Paula, I am currently going thru much of the same sittuation. At a YOUNG age my doctors started medicating me for migraines, anxiety and panic attacks, OCD, and mild bi-polar disorder. My mother quickly saw the problem and removed me from the toxic combination of medications, but as I became an adult I felt safe with my doctor and felt if he saw a need for these medications then I must need them. 3 years later I am taking medications to counter-act side effects of my medications and decided to go all natural once again... I first have to detox from this awful assortment of meds...So I have been doing a juice fast and taking Gensing. The gensing helps your body naturally detox while helping you stay alert. It really helped my withdrawl symptoms Now I am looking for alternatives to help with my anxiety and overall mental state and migrianes. Yoga in the mornings and walking in the cool air while practicing deep breathing have made a world of difference. I have been looking for and researching natural products and am compiling myself a list of products prices and websites. As I get my list closer to completion I will gladly share it with you and the rest of the group! ~Tawny , " Rupert " <rupert wrote: > > Hi Paula, > > 1) Hypnosis > 2) Liver cleanse > 3) Find a new hobby > 4) Exercise in fresh air and sunshine > 5) Change in diet > > Be well, > > rupert > , " wildman350smom " <carolb@> wrote: > > > > Douglas Lab's Valsed > > works for me. > > carol > > > > > > > My Dad has been on Valium for over 30 years and his doctor wants to take him off. Guest guest
Good Afternoon All, My apologies if this is lengthy, but I feel I have a worthy message to share. I am new to this group, & am not sure what the general trend of thought is here. But if I may, I'd like to offer my experience in hopes of helping others. By Nov. '07 I was so very sick, but couldn't put a specific or even general disease to it. Tired all the time, fatigued, and panic attacks that I once had for 20 years yet had been gone for 15, returned so bad that taking a shower was a huge event in the day, as I was terrified of getting weak-headed & passing out in the shower, and arthritis in my hands that almost crippled me, along with other joint problems. I suffered from a 'heavy head' feeling although I did not have a cold or a sinus infection, & was weak in the legs, shaky & pretty much resigned to stay in the house. Feeling this badly I had no focus or motivation for doing anything - I was all consumed by feeling so 'sick'. My conventional doctor wanted to put me on 4 medications in addition to the 2 I was already on. I said no. Finally, I found a doctor who did blood tests for me & found my immune system number at 813 - they should be under 200. I was also diagnosed with acidosis. He recommended several supplements and a vegetarian diet. I had to rid myself of the acidosis, reach a total alkaline level, then return to my favorite meat products, etc. to establish a balance acid-alkaline level - that was the key! It turned my life around. I began the treatment immediately. Within two weeks, all my negative symptoms disappeared. I felt physically strong, - heavy-headed feeling was gone, no more weakness gone in my legs, no longer tired, but full of energy. My only 'problem' was sleeping at night, 'cause I just didn't feel tired. A couple of nights taking Valerian Root, & I was rested calm & sleeping like a baby, feeling like I really wanted to 'jump' out of bed in the morning. I couldn't believe the transformation. I felt mentally strong - thinking clearly, focused, motivated. And emotionally strong - the biggest issues that used to stress & upset me were 'now' just tidbits of the day to take care of. I was overwhelmed. I was on top of the world & felt 30 years younger. And......I was off all medications, even over the counter!! About 4 months into this, stress began over some temporary life style changes, & I fell off the regimen. Six months later I was not only back at square one, but a follow-up blood test showed my immune system number had not only gone back up but skyrocketed to an all time high of 832, with the additional diagnosis of Candida. I was horrified. I returned to the regimen I had, but this time did an all organic, plant based food diet with a mild vegetarian diet (incorporating only eggs, chick & ground beef - all organic, certified & range free). The symptoms have again ceased, though this is a different journey with the addition of the Candida. It's a bit tougher & a bit longer. But I just cannot adequately express the change this has made in my life, & how wonderful I feel. As I said, I once took valium for 20 years for panic attacks, so my heart can understand that journey, & I am sharing my story in hopes of helping others. , " tawnynicole001 " <tawnynicole001 wrote: > > Paula, > > I am currently going thru much of the same sittuation. > At a YOUNG age my doctors started medicating me for migraines, anxiety and panic attacks, OCD, and mild bi-polar disorder.
