efficacy and cost of botanical formulations: seaweed extract with Aloe juice

Hi everyone

My first post here, let me try to keep this short. For years I have seen the

various products that are based on botanical extracts. They're usually in liquid

form, and they are usually sold by individuals (some old friend who contacts me

out of the blue to tell me how great this product is).

I finally got a call from someone who I know is something of a skeptic like me.

She has told me that she is taking a product which is made up of Aloe Juice and

the extracts of 9 seaweed types. I am going to list them here for those who know

of these things.

Fucus vesiculosus, Chondrus crispus, Ascophyllum nodosum, Laminaria digitata,

Porphyra yezoensis, Palmaria palmate, Ulva lactuca, Alaria esculenta, Gigartina

chamisso

I am old enough now to realize that I may not know everything, and that there is

no harm in trying new things. My health is generally very good.

My question is this - the product she is taking is extremely expensive. There's

still a bit of the skeptic in me. Is this formulation always very expensive? Is

this blend of seaweed extract/Aloe Juice available from another source for less

money? Does quality of extraction process matter (as I know it does when we're

talking protein supplements and even fresh juices, what with the heat damage

issues)?

As an aside, any comments about your experiences with this particular

formulation would be great.

Hope that isn't too long, any comments are appreciated.

Hello Nik,

Can you provide any more information about this product? Does it have a name?

Do you know the name of the company that makes it? Do they make any other

nutraceuticals? Is there a website available with more information about the

product?

It actually sounds as if it could be really beneficial, as seaweeds are some of

the most nourishing foods on the planet. They're loaded with trace minerals and

full of polysaccharides. But it would be helpful to have more info about it to

get a better feel for who's making it and how it's made.

Hi Elan

So sorry for the delay in responding and thanks for your reply.

I was hesitant to name the product as I didn't want people to think I was

spamming the forum. I have absolutely zero interest in this - I have just heard

of it in the past few weeks. Here is the website

http://www.lifeforce.net

and here is the product

http://www.lifeforce.net/body-balance.php

I surely hope it's okay to post these links. If you want to take a look at the

composition and give me your opinion, I would really appreciate it.
