Guest guest
Let's be clear about this difference. We keep hearing stem cell research as buzz words around the media. We are making terrific strides with ADULT stem cells, already they are regrowing liver tissues, from liver cirrosis patients, and are regrowing tissues on spinal cords, that have been severed. Most recently, there was a story on the news of a man with Parkinson's, had half of his brain injected with adult stem cells, he had an 80% improvement in symptoms after 5 years. Now, after 5 years, he is asking for the other side of his brain to be injected as well, He said he was given his life back. These are tremendous gains in scientific research, and there has been no moral implications. Nobody died, giving their stem cells. Embryonic on the other hand, has not shown any promise yet. Researchers are hoping it will, however it hasn't happened yet. The only way to get Embryonic Stem cells, is by killing a baby. You create life, to harvest the stem cells, then kill the baby. When you hear about stem cell research, please know this great difference, it is a matter of life and death. Sincerely, Gina in IL.
Guest guest
Let's be clear... this all based on your religious opinion. Mine differs. In my religious opinion, life begins with the first breath when Soul enters a body and begins this physical venture. If that is true, it does not amount to a hill of beans as to what kind of stem cells are used. No living human being is an authority on this, so please don't start out with your authoritarian verbiage. Most likely, the only reason that more embryonic stem cell research has been successful is that no one has been doing it. We now have a president who agrees with me... at least on this single topic. As a result, you can bet that things will change... after eight years.
Guest guest
Ok, here we are- the end of the stem cell/baby/moral issue. Hope you enjoyed, tune in next evening for completely new threads. Moderator-- Wasn't there a recent article about embryonic stem cell failing and was a total disaster on a certain disease? No, i am not for the embryonic stem cell. Who knows maybe that fetus used would have been a good leader with a good conscience. And besides i don't think anyone has the right to play God who alone gives and takes away life.
