Guest guest
Now my 3 year old is sick again. My daughter just got over strep throat (although she is still coughing like crazy) but now my 3 year old has green and orange/yellow stuff coming out from his ear, I suspect it's another inner ear infection. He also has a tummy ache, will not get off of the couch and feels awful, only a slight fever though. Both of my kids keep telling me that the back of their knees hurt, which I find to be very strange. Growing pains are at night, so I know these are not growing pains, these pains are in the morning mostly and in the day. What type of a virus or bacteria could cause both of my children to hurt behind their knees? They both have a bad cough at night time as well. I am just so overwhelmed right now, sickness is a constant in my home and I am so tired of it. I want to throw in the towel and give up. I too have severe candida, which leaves me crippled on most days, so it's enough just taking care of my own illness, let alone the kids. I want to get them well, but I just don't know how. I don't trust regular doctors. Sometimes I think it's my home making us sick, but we are the only ones who have ever lived in this home for the past 11 years since it was built. I have lived here 5 years and my husband for 11 years. My husband isn't sick, only me and our 2 kids though. I just need some guidance and help here, I prefer homeopathy, but don't know much about it yet. I used it on my daughter's strep along with colloidal silver. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mia

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I've been studying and learning a lot about 'alternative,' holistic and natural approaches to healing and wellness for a while now and there are several things that have become very clear to me with regards to the real reasons why we get sick and how we can heal. I thought maybe it would be helpful to share some of my insights with you here. Two of the most common reasons why we become chronically ill are because: a) we're not being properly nourished by the food we eat b) our bodies have become overburdened with toxins Even here in the west where most people have plenty to eat, chronic illness is becoming more and more common these days, due in large part to an appalling lack of proper nourishment. One big reason for this is because so many of us eat so much processed food. Highly processed foods generally contain much fewer high quality nutrients as compared to whole, unprocessed food. So even if we have plenty to eat and think we're eating well, for many of us, much of what we are actually consuming these days is quite devitalized and incredibly nutrient-poor. Another reason many of us are not being nourished properly is because the soil in which much of our food is grown has become extremely depleted of minerals and other vital nutrients. This is due to the rampant overuse by industrialized agriculture of petrochemicals like pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers. These poisons have essentially destroyed much of our soil and left it lifeless, infertile and incapable of growing nourishing, nutrient dense foods. And because there are so many environmental toxins in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat, some peoples' bodies are unable to eliminate these toxins from their systems in a timely manner. When too many toxins build up in our cells, tissues and organs, this can also cause us to become chronically ill. To add insult to injury, many people take round after round of antibiotics (and other toxic pharmaceuticals) which destroy the delicate balance of friendly/putrefactive bacteria in our guts. Once this balance is upset, this can leave us much more vulnerable than ever to chronic illness. This is partly because our gut flora is integrally tied to our immune system. So if the balance of flora is disrupted, this often compromises the ability of our immune system to function properly. Also, when the balance of gut flora is knocked out of kilter, our digestive system can no longer digest our food properly. If the food we eat isn't being digested properly, its nutrition isn't being assimilated properly, which means our bodies cannot be nourished properly. And without proper digestion, assimilation and nourishment, not only will we become chronically malnourished, but our body's ability to effectively remove and eliminate accumulated toxins becomes compromised also. When looked at from this perspective, it becomes clearer how a combination of poor nutrition, the build up of toxins in our bodies, and the repeated use pharmaceutical drugs can become a vicious cycle of chronic illness. The unfortunate truth is that for the most part, pharmaceutical drugs simply do not address the root cause of the problem (which more often than not originates from malnutrition and toxicity.) Rather they're only designed to suppress symptoms (and make billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical/medical industrial complex.) The most effective, holistic and natural way to approach this problem in order to start breaking this cycle of chronic illness in your family is to address its root causes. This means it's really important to take a good hard look at what you're eating. The most powerful and effective tool you can utilize right now with regard to your health and the health of your family is your diet. Start exploring how you can begin to shift your diet to include more and more of the most nourishing, nutrient dense foods (and perhaps high quality supplements and/or superfoods) possible, while simultaneously reducing the amount of processed, nutrient-poor foods you consume. Hippocrates said " Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. " This is sage advice because as we all know, we are what we eat. And there are many, many foods that contain powerful nutrients, phytonutrients and compounds that are actually medicinal in nature. What many people aren't aware of is that high quality nourishment not only supports, but actually facilitates the body's own natural healing capabilities. In addition to addressing diet, it's also important to always stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of the purest, cleanest water possible. Generally speaking, this means avoiding tap water, which often contains harmful chemicals like sodium fluoride and chlorine, and in some places even all sorts of other nasties, including drugs: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-03-09-water_N.htm Another important consideration is regularity, which is vital on any path to wellness. If we're not eliminating solid wastes at least once or twice a day (preferably we should have as many movements each day as we have meals) this needs to be addressed if we intend to get well and stay well. Regular physical activity of some sort is always recommended and very beneficial, and you may also wish to consider looking into doing some sort of detoxification or internal cleansing. Your kids are too young to do any real internal detoxifying, but they would certainly benefit from regularly soaking in salt and/or clay baths, which are very cleansing, healing and therapeutic. One of the most important things we should bear in mind when we're suffering from chronic illness is that the body has a powerful innate healing wisdom and an amazing ability to heal itself. But for this to happen, there has to be at least a modicum of balance within us. And that kind of balance is only present when our bodies are well oxygenated and nourished, and when wastes and toxins are being properly eliminated by and from our bodies in a timely manner. Chronic illness is essentially a signal that our natural internal balance has gone off kilter, and many of the symptoms we have when we're sick are really just our body's way of attempting to restore that balance. I hope this helps, Mia. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
