Guest guest
I have adrenal fatigue and I also have hypothyroidism type 2, and low sex hormones as well, basically complete endocrine disruption. I have never had asthma or allergies in my life, but the past few years all of the sudden I am allergic to everything (things that I used to NEVER be allergic to) like cats, dogs, trees, Grass, cleaning chemicals, air fresheners, mold, mold spores, gluten, dairy, dust mites, you name it and I am now all of the sudden allergic to it. I am not sure Why after 36 years that my body just decided that it wanted to be allergic to everything. And then at age 36 I was diagnosed with asthma, I never had asthma or asthma symptoms prior to that in my life. How can someone just get asthma and allergies? I have my suspicions, I think that it could be complete immune system failure due to chronic candida overgrowth. Fungus, virus’s etc that have taken over my body. It could be due to the low thyroid that this is happening, or to the low adrenal function, but I am not positive which came first. Anyway, the other night something REALLY BAD HAPPENED TO ME, About 2:00am the middle of my chest started to hurt really badly, as if I was getting an upper respiratory infection. It hurt right on my sternum bone area, it hurt badly all of the sudden and it was getting worse. It actually hurt as if I had been coughing for days (you know how your chest hurts when you’ve been coughing all night long or for many days?) – That is what it felt like. It was so strange. But then by 2:30am I was in a full blown ASTHMA attack! I have never ever had a full blown asthma attack, just little bouts here and there with wheezing and stuff, but this was real, and my lungs were filling up with mucus so fast that I couldn’t believe it. One hour I was perfectly fine, the next hour I was hacking up big green thick snot scattered with blood specks in them, tons of green stuff was coming up, it was very thick and green and yellow with a little blood in it. I freaked out!! The wheezing was so loud that it woke my husband up (and he wears ear plugs to bed). I was terrified that I was dying, not kidding, my breathing became very shallow, and extremely loud. I made it downstairs and got 15mg HC at 2:30am (I had just taken 5mg at 1:00aam) so I took 20mg total in less than 2 hours. I know that is a lot, but I was having a major reaction to something!! I felt like I was having an allergic reaction to something, but normally when I have an allergic reaction to something it turns into hay fever – you know watery and itchy eyes, running nose, sneezing etc…. This attack only attached my chest and my lungs, and it happened so fast and so hard…..I was about to go to the ER but I am afraid of regular doctors, so I told my husband to call the ambulance if I stopped breathing. It took about 1 ½ hour but eventually the HC worked!! It even took away all the phlegm that I was coughing up, but where did the phlegm go, there was so much last night, now I am not coughing at all, it’s as if it never happened, how can one recover from something like that so fast? Normally I would cough for days and spit up green stuff for days. This was the most scary thing and it was the strangest thing, has this ever happened to anyone else here? Can Iodine cause this to happen? I asked about this on another message board and was told that the Iodine could be causing this. But I really don’t think so; I have been on the Iodine 6 days as of today, why would it have taken 5 days for it to cause a major asthma attack in me? I could have just been having an allergic reaction to air freshener. I never use air freshener in my home anymore (I used to though) but my sister got some and sprayed it yesterday and I walked right into it, I never used to be allergic to anything, but it seems that lately I am just allergic to everything, things that I was NEVER allergic to before. I wonder it he air freshener could have caused all of that green thick phlegm and the pain and coughing in my chest? She didn’t spray that much, but I went into the bathroom right after she sprayed it, and about 8 hours later I felt like I was drying, there was blood in the stuff that I was coughing up, this doesn’t seem normal to be, but again I am terrified of regular doctors which is why I didn’t go to the ER, I am feeling brand new today and fine! Maybe it was just a fluke thing, but I am worried that these type of asthma attacks may get worse and worse over time and I don’t know how to stop them. Or how to stop myself from being so sensitive to things all of the sudden? When this happened I really did think this was the end for me, I was spitting up blood and coughing all of the sudden for no reason, I had no cough at all before this attack came on, but once the attack happened it was uncontrollable coughing and painful coughing and tons of stuff was being coughed up and I was just standing over the sink spitting it out, it was a huge attack, meanwhile I was wheezing like an 18 wheeler, you could hear the mucus just rushing through my chest trying to get up and get out…I have never experienced anything like this in my 37 years! I took a whole bunch of hydrocortisone and within about 2 hours it was all over with, the coughing was gone! The chest pain was gone and I was back to normal. I have never really had a real asthma attack before, so I have nothing to go by, was this an asthma attack (it was very hard to breath due to all the mucus in my lungs) or was this an attack due to some allergy that I had been exposed to ? Or could it have been something like a fungus like aspergillus that had maybe burst open like a “fungus ball” as Bill has mentioned. I am just clueless, don’t get me wrong, I am back to normal and feeling well again, but I would love to know what caused this. I just had my IgE tested and it was normal, but my Candida anti-bodies were very high. Does anyone have any answers? I know that someone has said that it was probably due to me having a severe “Low Cortisol” reaction, my adrenals were flat lining and death was near had I not taken that high dose of hydrocortisone I truly believe that I would not have made it. I had a friend die a few years ago, she was only 23 yrs old, she died of a massive asthma attack, I did not witness this attack though, but I imagine it was very similar to what I went through the other night, I was in my bed praying (which I don’t do often) and I had the phone in my hand ready to dial 9-1-1 – but I am terrified of “allopathic doctors” so that is why I never dialed the phone, I just trusted my gut instinct and my instinct said to take a lot of hydrocortisone and it worked!
