Guest guest
It is not only important to consider how much you eat, but what types of food. You should avoid all carbohydrates, and instead focus on protein and good fats. By good fats, I mean unprocessed coconut oil and butter. Avoid all artifical oils, namely " vegetable " oils. Avoid MSG - make your own sauces, or don't use any at all. Be aware that virtually all processed food uses MSG - so avoid all of it. If it isn't natural (like apples), don't eat it. Guest guest
Gracie, I have read that a body that is overly acidic will not be able to lose weight as excess fat is used to protect the internal organs from damage. If this is your problem, returning your body to a more alkaline state will aid in weight loss as your body will no longer need to hold on to the fat. CLA, conjugated linoleic acid, helps to lose excess fat. You can take it in supplement form, or it is found in the meat and dairy products of grassfed animals. Guest guest
Avoid ALL carbs?? I really hope you meant to say to stop processed carbs and/or grains...especially since you insinuate later that apples are okay to eat? Have you seen Atkins people?--they tend to look really sick and older than their age...and don't even think of exercising if you forgo all carbs...or speaking to anyone because your breath will be horrific. Whole-food carbs! Yay! --Mis , " http_chainexerciser_tripod_com " <yburkett wrote: > > It is not only important to consider how much you eat, but what > types of food. Guest guest
My doc told me to stay away from carbs and exercise to rid myself of diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. He told me to eat fruits and vegetables as my source of carbs. Melly Melly
Guest guest
Fruits and vegs are carbs. I'm guessing he meant to stay away from sugar and grains... , Melly Bag <tita_mel wrote: > > My doc told me to stay away from carbs and exercise to rid myself of diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. Guest guest
Melly, Your doctor's advice was poor. The way of life he is suggesting is similar to the Atkins diet. From personal experience I would suggest that you eat a balanced diet, incorporating all the food groups and exercising to your ability. Yoga is excellent for almost anyone, take exercise with care. Don't diet would be my only true piece of advice. Change the way you eat and your lifestyle. Guest guest
Jenny, Thanks for your advice. I was just reading animal protein vs vegetable protein and indeed, vegetable protein is an incomplete protein BUT you can eat lots of different vegetables and assorted raw nuts to get the complete protein. Some nuts or vegetables might be low in some kind of amino acids but can be compensated by eating another veggie or nut which can contain a higher content of the lower ones, kind of balancing the amino acids. We eat cooked meat which makes our body and pancreas, kidney and liver work harder to digest the hardened protein. These organs are stressed out. No more meat for us. I am diabetic and hypertensive and therefore can't afford to get my organs stressed. They already work hard to balance my bp and blood sugar. I think with this info my doc is quite right. I dropped carbs (bread, rice, etc) and sugar intake. I can avail of the carbs and proteins from eating lots of assorted veggies and raw nuts. Fat, i get from my breakfast of chia seeds and avocado as well as nuts. I am seeing results. My weight is slowly dropping and my BP, blood sugar and cholesterol are more on the normal range now. BTW, i now grow sprouts and eat them raw. This gives me vitamins and enzymes and some minerals. Did you see latest news that high cholesterol is caused by high carbohydrate intake? The material i read stated that we were psyched by nutritionists to eat lots the horrible pyramid diet. Studies have shown that the people that live longer are the ones that don't eat animal protein. Raw seafood if eaten raw is beneficial if taken from pristine environment, which no longer exists nowadays. :-( Melly
