Guest guest
L-Triptophan is back on the market. I have been taking 5HTP for several years because I could not get L-Triptophan - it works great for sleep and my moods. 5htp was OK but not as good for me as L-Triptophan. Also people on blood pressure meds and some thyroid meds should not use any thing with grapefruit in it - check with you pharmacy - mine always puts a note on the bottle not to eat or use grapefruit based supplements. Delene _____ Fortunately tryptophan occurs naturally in turkey meat. So, when ever I need to sleep, I use either turkey or gaba and I'm out like a light. By the way, GABA is also used by body builders. It is gamma-aminobutyric acid. I is a prescursor to serotonin. Taking gaba at about 750 to 1,000 mgs., helps me to sleep at night. I am bipolar and it does not take a lot to throw me right off my sleep cycle. Hope that helps, Linda Bastida (Isn't it funny how many people die from drowning, but nobody tries to ban water?) --- On Tue, 1/27/09, sharonstrahan <sharonstrahan@ <sharonstrahan%40.co.uk> .co.uk> wrote: > sharonstrahan <sharonstrahan@ <sharonstrahan%40.co.uk> .co.uk> > << >> Re: 5HTP and SAMe > Alternative- <%40> Medicine-Forum > Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 5:08 AM > Just wanted to add a little side info here - if that's > ok. > > L-Tryptophan was taken off the market some years ago in the > US and > several other countries.
