I just joined this group. I have fibromyalgia and have been taking Goji juice now for 4 1/2 weeks. doing very well on it, but I have a hard time sleeping. I've had sleep apnea for 12 years already and sleep with a CPAP machine. I'm on Ambien, but really want to use some natural rememedies and get off the Ambien. I've tried Melatonin, doesn't work for me. I don't think my brain is working to sleep naturally. Any suggestions on what I can try?Thank you!~Robin
Guest guest
There are many different things that helped me in the past, my favorite is take your shoes off and go stand on the natural ground. What that does is put the earth natural electricity running threw your body. It gets cut off from our rubber sole shoes. Try it.. It has help me a numerous amount of times.. Guest guest
There are soo many herbs that can assist....and there are many tea's out there pre-made, or you can create your own.....some of my favorites to use are: valerian root (this I use in any bedtime tea that I make - my #1 choice - but is a bit of a stinky herb,) skullcap, chamomile (keep in mind this one is in the ragweed family), passionflower (as noted below), hops, catnip, lemon balm, st. john's wort, kava kava (for stress)...etc... the great thing about these, even valerian, is that I never awake with that 'ugh' feeling....well ok, not any more than normal that is... There are also some pre-made loose herbal teas that can be purchased online that I enjoy, feel free to email me privately if you would like the info (just in case that is against the rules here)..... It depends on what could be causing the sleeplessness as to what I would use....there are also some homeopathic remedies that can assist depending on why you are having difficulties sleeping.... Also, make sure you have a bedtime routine, and try your best to stick with it, and NO television in your bedroom....seriously...I had a very hard time sleeping for years...I have never been able to take the OTC sleep helpers, as they make me tired but VERY restless....and ended up drinking alcohol just to relax, then I was aware I did not like not being able to relax and sleep w/o drinking, so I went to the Dr...they gave me Seraquel, as part of my problem is that my mind just will not calm down....but then it truly messed w/ my mental functions, even at the lowest dosage cut in half....so finally I got off of that...since I have began my bed time routine, taken the television out of my room, and had my cup of 'bedtime tea' every night, things are MUCH better...one doctor at some point (actually I believe it was a counselor) told me that with everything that we focus on every day...it is quite difficult to calm down at the end of the day...even when something else is going on, when there are any distractions at all, then sleep can be inhibited...in addition to that, you need to make your mind & body understand that it is bedtime, this is where the routine comes in....I thought it was a bunch of 'you-know-what' for a long time, until I actually gave it a chance for a month or so to work.... and do not forget to limit afternoon caffeine you may have already known some or all of that...but, just in case, I thought I would offer my two cents....I wish you the best of luck... Guest guest
I find that my sleep cycle has changed. Now I go to bed later and stay longer in bed. Anyone know of some good over the counter remedies for this?
