Guest guest
My 18 month old could not sleep last night due to a runny/stuffy nose. He has no other symptoms of being sick. Does this mean that his body is in the process of fighting something? Is there any foods that I can give him to help? I also heard that I should stop his dairy intake because this produces more mucus (has any one heard this also)? If he doesnt drink milk what is the next best thing to have him drink? Anyways, I remember as a child, my mother had the vaporizer going for all our colds. The mucus and runny nose are a normal protective, infection fighter. You are right about the dairy causing mucus, also I read that the proteins in milk are acidic, and our goal is to try to keep our body alkaline to discourage cold and infection. It might not help you with this particular cold, but I used homeopathic remedies for all three of my kids, the little pellets just melt in their mouths, and homeopathics are so gentle. Lots of great info if you google homeopathic medicines, and/or your local health store might be able to tell you more about them. We avoided antibiotics and other prescriptions for the most part. There are booklets you can purchase to learn more about them. Your toddler might enjoy a fruit smoothie made with frozen banana instead of any milk, as you probably already know, just keep the foods plain and simple and easy to digest. Guest guest
I would not give a child any pasteurized milk or dairy. They will contribute to mucus but there are many more reasons. I recommend " raw " milk - that does not have the same problem. It as well is what builds his immune system and fights allergies which is what you may be dealing with. The following is one site on the raw milk. Search the web and read more http://www.raw-milk-facts.com/raw_milk_health_benefits.html Mary , " tbozek77 " <tbozek77 wrote: > > My 18 month old could not sleep last night due to a runny/stuffy nose. > He has no other symptoms of being sick.
