Your nose and sinuses are lined with mucus membranes where candida

overgrowth can occur, just like your stomach, intestines and other mucus

membranes.

Also candida toxins can greatly affect the nose and sinuses since the body

produces excessive mucus to clean out toxins from the body.

The excessive can be particularly noticeable and uncomfortable, but it is

caused by the healing process, in an effort to eliminate candida and other

toxins from the body, or in reaction to toxic substances in the air.

Of course the first step would be to eliminate any toxic substances you are

exposed to, especially in your immediate environment, i.e. smoke, molds,

toxic fumes from carpets and other synthetic materials, air fresheners, most

candles (except bees wax), cleaning fluids evaporating from dry-cleaned

clothes,

fumes, and also any contact with toxic household cleaning products, perfumes,

body care products, shampoo, bar soaps, laundry soap, etc.

To treat molds see Eliminate Molds in Your Home. Also rip out synthetic

carpets and replace them with natural wool or cotton carpets or rugs, wood or

cork. Seek out natural, non-toxic household cleaning and body care products.

For

more information see _Toxins - Environmental, Household, Person Care, Etc._

Also eliminate the use of medical drugs and over-the-counter medicines,

including birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Do not

stop

taking medical drugs suddenly. Some require careful supervision and/or

testing. Always decrease amounts gradually over a period of time.

Do not cook with a microwave, and eliminate all processed foods which may be

irradiated or contain pesticides, toxic substances, additives and

preservatives.

To achieve some level of comfort you can treat the nose and sinuses directly

using several different methods and solutions. To treat candida overgrowth

in the nose and sinuses you can use antifungals such as coconut oil, garlic or

nystatin. However minimizing candida in any part of your body will happen

gradually as you continue on the candida program, especially the diet and

supplements. To handle excessive mucus, caused by die-off or detoxifying

symptoms,

you can use ocean sea salt or hydrogen peroxide solutions.

Also, see the 'Other Important Treatments' at the end of this article.

Directly treating any one area of the body will not help unless you are also

getting the nutrients (diet) and supplements recommended on the candida

program,

as well as helping your body to detoxify – see _How to Successfully Overcome

Candida._ (http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php)

Sniffing or Inhaling Nystatin Powder

- Shake the bottle of Nystatin powder vigorously.

- Remove the cap and hold the bottle just under your nose.

- Sniff or inhale very cautiously.

- Another method is to hold one nostril and put a dot of Nystatin powder on

your index finger and sniff gently.

- Repeat for the other nostril.

- The number of sniffs or inhales can be gradually increased to 3 or 4 in a

row up to three times a day or more, depending upon how well it is tolerated.

Sniffing Oil of Oregano several times a day is also very good for the nose

and sinuses.

How to Do Snizzles

Buy an infant nasal syringe for this procedure or use a squeeze bottle, and

have tissues nearby.

- Use any of the solutions listed below that are cooled to body temperature.

- Fill the bulb syringe by sucking up the solution, or fill the squeeze

bottle with the solution. - -- While leaning forward over the sink, with your

face pointing down, not up, and with a towel handy, insert the bulb syringe or

squeeze bottle tip into the right nostril (never the left first!). - - Gently

squeeze the solution well back into the nose. Hold your breath; do not

breathe in while squeezing. Gently blow out the congestion onto a tissue.

- The final step is to sniffle strongly to clear up the solution remaining

in the very back of the nose.

- Next, repeat above with the left nostril.

- Use the remaining solution as an excellent throat gargle for relieving

harsh discomfort and irritation.

Do snizzles at least 4 times a day.

Treatments Methods

You can put any liquid water soluble treatment solution into your nose using

an eyedropper, small syringe, squeeze bottle with a tip, or a cotton ball,

i.e. garlic, nystatin, sea salt, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda; see recipes

for the solutions after the methods below.

When using certain solutions, like garlic, you will feel a heat going

through your nostrils into your sinuses, and your nose will run. Your eyes may

tear

and you may sneeze. It can be uncomfortable, but it also feels good in a

way.

Eye Dropper, Small Syringe or Squeeze Bottle with Tip — Using a small bulb

syringe, eye dropper, or squeeze bottle trickle the solution into each nostril

little by little (about 5-10 drops) while leaning your head back, or while

lying down. Repeat with the other side. If it runs into throat no problem,

even swallowing some is okay. You can do this 5 to 8 times the first day until

you notice improvement; then reduce it to 3 times a day.

Cotton Ball — Tear a cotton ball into two pieces which are small enough to

fit into the nostrils. Soak the pieces thoroughly in the solution. Put a

soaked cotton ball into each , and leave them in for about 5 to 10 minutes,

allowing time for the nose to absorb the solution. Remove the cotton balls.

Repeat

5 to 8 times the first day until you notice improvement; then reduce it to 3

times a day.

Solutions to Use

Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C) — Make your own sodium ascorbate by mixing

equal amounts of ascorbic acid crystals (available at the health store) and

baking soda - stir together to mix well. Put 3/4 of a teaspoon of that mixture

into slightly less than 1/2 cup of warm sterile water (sterilize tap water by

boiling it for 30 minutes). Mix well and put 10-20 drops in each nostril, OR

using a nasal spray bottle squirt it 3 times into each nostril. Taking vitamin

C this way increases absorption by 1,000 times over taking it by mouth.

Baking Soda — Mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 cup of warm clean water.

Hydrogen Peroxide — Use regular 3% drug-store type hydrogen peroxide (H202).

Start with a mixture of 75% clean water to 25% H202. When you reduce the

treatment to 3 times a day try increasing the strength gradually, up to 50/50

H202 and water. Be careful not the get the H202 solution into your eyes. If you

do, flush your eyes with lots of clean water.

Garlic Tea

- Boil 1 cup of water and set it off the heat.

- Add one raw crushed garlic clove (medium size).

- Allow it to steep 20 minutes.

- Strain it and allow it to cool to body temperature.

Sea Salt — Mix 1/2 teaspoon of a good ocean sea salt into 1 cup of warm

clean water (mix well). Do not use regular table salt.

Nystatin Powder — Mix 1/2 teaspoon of nystatin powder into one cup of warm

clean water (mix well.

Other Important Treatments

- Coconut oil is a very effective antifungal, which can also soothe and

strengthen mucus membranes in your nose. Swab the inside of your nose liberally

using a Q-tip. Also 20 minutes after doing the treatments above, swab with

coconut oil. You can also use coconut oil to massage your nose and sinuses.

Rub it into the skin starting between your eyebrows, and around your eyes,

and along your nose and out onto your cheeks. In fact coconut oil is a great

moisturizer for your whole face and body.

- To soothe swelling and aching sinuses apply warm wet heat directly to the

swollen areas 4 times a day; use a wash cloth soaked in water as hot as you

can stand it, without burning your skin.

Lye down and place the hot wash cloth over the area from your forehead to

the bottom of your nose. Leave it there until it starts to cool. Then re-dip

the wash cloth and continue.

- The essential fatty acid omega-3 is very important for reducing reactions

to toxins. For more information see the Cod Liver Oil articles.

- Ensure that the air you breath is moist, by using a humidifier or by

boiling water on the stove for a few hours every day.

- To get additional moisture, run hot water in the shower, allowing the

steam to fill the bathroom — do not get burned while turning off the water

tap.

Sit in the steam-filled room for 15 to 20 minutes, breathing in slowly and

deeply 3 times in a row; breathe through your nose, and out through your mouth

(do not breath in deeply too much, or too fast, so that it causes you to

hyperventilate).

- Take baths with Epsom salts, salt or 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide.

Baths help draw toxins out through the skin and help your body to detoxify and

heal.

Add two cups, or 500 grams, of Epsom salts or one cup of salt to a full tub

of warm to hot water. Or use 1 cup of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide in a

full tub of warm to hot water. Sit and soak until you sweat, or about 20

minutes.

- Vitamin C — take 4,000 mg when the worst symptoms occur and take 1,000 mg

every hour until the symptoms subside, or bowel tolerance is reached, i.e.

loose stools. Then cut back the amount to a dose that doesn't create loose

stools. Drink six glasses of Electrolyte

- Drink per day (1/4 teaspoon of ocean sea salt and the juice of 1/2 lemon

in 6 ounces of clean water).

- To aid detoxification and healing consume plenty of chicken soup and bone

broths.

- Clove spice is an excellent powerful antioxidant that detoxifies very

effectively. It is also antifungal and a natural antibiotic.

Clove Tea

- Boil four and a half cups of water.

- Take the water off the heat and add two level teaspoons of ground cloves,

or use whole cloves, which are more potent. Put whole cloves in a tough

plastic bag and crush them with a hammer until they are pulverized – use 2

levels

teaspoons.

- Let it steep for 20 minutes.

- Strain and drink the entire amount during the day. It is okay hot or cold.

Alternatively, take clove oil drops — buy a good 100% clove oil intended for

internal use. Take 4 drops three times a day. They are too strong to take

straight, but you can dilute them in coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil.
