Guest guest
Hi I am wonder if anyone here can help me with some research I am doing on on detox? (i.e. general body detox, not drug detox) I want to know what people are wanting out of detox? What is the main thing you would want to do detox for? (eg do you want to loose weight, feel better, get better skin, have more energy or other reasons) Many thanks Sandy
Guest guest
IMHO, our reasons for a specific detox are ledgion, subjective, and individual. Nevertheless, the question intrigued me, because it helps me clarify my own reasons for using the tool of a particular detox. I became familiar with this term and usage in the 70's, so maybe this continues to condition my own reasons for seasonal detoxes and for particular detox sessions and methods. .. The main reason I detox is to return my body, as much as possible to a state of inner balance within it's many complex and mysterious systems of balance, wherein it can naturally go about it's DNA's purpose of evolution with the least amount of interference from what I have eaten, absorbed, breathed or hyponotized myself into inappropriately. There is a world of poo-poo in my head and in my world that directly challenges the best efforts of my valient body's efforts to keep me healthy, sane and all systems functioning efficiently. Neither our best collective sciences or my own intentions of wisdom can prevent most of this pollution, or even understand our own body's many checks and balances built-in to help us deal with it. Each culture and timeframe have many partial solutions to this, spiritual and physical. Detoxing is a major method for all cultures and all time frames. The methods I use most successfully are fasting, juicing, enemas, special methods of nutritional intake, lots of water, and certain supplements and chelating techniques. I usually like to create a period of detox after the heavy indulgences of the Holidays. If I have an injury or hospitalization, I create a period of detox to rid myself on many levels of the toxins of that experience. If I have a great loss, and a period of grief, I need a detox period. Seasonally, I use a small detox to help my body prevent unbalance, and keep my immune system strong and my spirits valient and young-at-heart. The details are less important (for what I use specifically) than the encouragement to find and use your own methods that work for you. And be willing to let them evolve as you evolve. What you used in your 20's may not be as appropriate or effective in your 50's. Though some never seem to change, at least for me. I hope this is not too vague to be useful. Guest guest
My mother died of bowel cancer about 11 years ago. I was only about 30 years old and was starting to suffer from all sorts of health problems - small in reality, but I could see how they could get worse over the years. I began to worry that I would end up like my mother - dying relatively young from a horrible - and I'm convinced - preventable illness. This led me to try colonic irrigation and the therapist began my education in 'alternative' health. Ever since, I have been learning and doing more. My belief - based on what I've learned - is that one needs to focus on detoxing the bowel and liver so that they in turn can keep do their proper jobs, which is to keep the body healthy and free from toxins too. Much like Norma, my methods include juicing/fasting, enemas, supplements, and dietary control. My original goal was to not get bowel cancer, but as my health improved all around, I have done it for this reason. Losing weight, nice skin, etc. has been a nice to have, but not my primary goal. Hope that helps Regards Sharon
