Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this site. Our family attempts to solve physical problems by natural means, i.e. herbs, diet and home remedies. We are hoping for some insight from those, in the know, on this forum. My husband is having the following problems: -swelling in both shoulders, right more than left [he's left-handed] -shooting pain in shoulders and down arms, right more than left -difficulty in raising arms, right more than left -his range of motion [distance of reach and any twisting motion]is limited by pain. -his work as a machinist/welder is being hampered by this circumstance -this shoulder pain has the side effect of preventing comfortable sleep at night ---he has not been able to sleep in bed for more than 2 hours intervals, he then attempts sleep in a sitting position until his discomfort requires relocation Does anyone have suggestions for at home treatment that could help? Guest guest
Just a thought, have you checked out the symptoms for fybromyalgia? It's a possibility. As with most things, I believe in treating ill health through diet, and, where necessary, supplements. In your husband's case, I would definitely recommend high doses of vitamin C (as in: at LEAST 10 grams per day. I use sodium ascorbate, which comes in powder form and is the cheapest, easiest for to get large amounts into my system). For diet, check out the specific carbohydrate diet, mercola.com and the Weston A Price Foundation. If you get him onto a sugar-free, starch-free, additive-free diet I would be surprised if it didn't help. SCDiet: http://www.scdiet.org/ Mercola.com: http://www.mercola.com/ Weston A Price Foundation: http://www.westonaprice.org/tour/index.html He will probably be lacking in lots of minerals, so you could get some good quality sea salt (the greyer the better) then let him partake of it freely. I mean FREELY. It may be that his tastes are extremely salty for a while, but that's all good. I have it on the table in a little container with a spoon so that everyone can salt to their own tastes. http://www.curezone.com/foods/saltcure.asp Of course cod liver oil, fish oil and/or plenty of certain types of fish are great for omega 3 fats, vitamin A and D, and I would recommend he eat plenty of butter (again, lavishly and to taste), not margarine though. Not even " good " margarine. And of course, lots of sunlight/sunshine. Even on a cloudy day there is vitamin D to be had from being outside, so if it's Winter on your side of the planet, don't let that be an excuse for not getting out there. (btw, it's a lovely, sunny, summer day where I am. If you can afford the trip, you could always join us in the southern hemisphere! = )) That's something to start you thinking, anyway. Guest guest
My husband had a similar problem in his left shoulder. Chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapy helped some. He was given exercises to do to keep his shoulder stretched. It took him many months to get better, and he's still not 100%. Cayenne type creams or compacts might be helpful, as well as glucosamin and chondroiton sulfate in correct doses (1500mg glucosamine, 1200mg chondroiton). I'm not sure I'm choosing the right means technically to respond, but this is the screen that came up when I hit rely. I had never heard of DMSO before. I checked it out by google and am not sure I quite understand all I read. Is it indeed natural? Is the liquid something I use myself to make up a salve or cream with other herbs and/or essential oils to reduce pain? I try to make as many of my own products as possible to save money and to gain that experience. Does anyone have a recipe that they would be willing to share? Thanks again, Jo
Guest guest
Last year I was in terrible pain in various areas of my body. I could not get up to go to the bathroom without help, found it difficult and painful to turn over in bed, and the pain was increasing. Finally, one night I had extreme difficulty getting up even with help. I was at my wit's end not knowing what to do. I called a friend and described what was happening. He was aware that Ihad been doing a heavy metal detox, and was careless about replacing minerals. He said " oh. you're just deficient in minerals. At first I was skeptical, but I took the minerals. The next morning I not only was able to get to the bathroom with no trouble, but also showered, and spent hours out shopping. The only remaining pain was a slight pain in my neck. Guest guest
Has he seen a chiropractor? Whenever my second cervical vertebrae goes 'out' I get pain in my left shoulder and in between my shoulder blades, due to the pull on my trapezius. A chiropractic adjustment usually relieves the pain in a matter of minutes. Hope this helps,
