Calcium in teh blood

Greetings,

I have just learnt that I have a slight elevation of calcium in the

blood. Nothing to worry about, the MD says, but I kept thinking:

What does it mean?

Are my bones leaking calcium and therefore my osteopenia is turning

into a full fledge osteoporosis?

Shall I increase the intake of calcium? Shall I decrease it?

Does this mean that I might have cancer cells in my body?

What?

All my blood tests show that everything in my body is " normal " though

it is a relative term. And no one who puts on 1 lb/month is normal, I

can tell you that!

I also know that the level of Vit. D is low, so I already ordered

some and will start taking 5g as soon as it arrives. Will this help?

Can anyone shed a light on this, please?

Thanks much.

Maria

Maria,

Yes, you probably have too much calcium in your blood because you aren't

absorbing it. Vitamin D deficiency causes calcium not to be absorbed. When

you

start taking your D3 at 5000 IU per day you will notice a big change. I

learned this at the Vit. D conference last week in San Diego.

Hi Maria:

Here is my take: Your body must maintain a level of blood calcium in

order to function and there is a constant change between the various

sources. If it needs it and you do not supply it, it takes it from your

bones.

However, I believe that we get too much elemental calcium in our diets

and that what we need in magnesium supplementation. I do that

transdermally since it naturally takes what it needs and you can't get

diarrhea from it as you can orally.

If you take Vit D... make sure that it is D3. Carlson cod liver oil is

a good place to get it and you get Omega 3's in the deal. Dr. Mercola

recommends a tanning bed (that has no leaking radiation... he sells

one). That would be nice, by is expensive.

Kind Regards, Jim
