Guest guest
I think he is both right and wrong about cod liver oil It depend on the source . Cheap grades can be high in PVC and heavy metals . However you can find some very good ones in the health food stores that are certified to be free of contaminates. --- On Fri, 12/5/08, Alobar <Alobar wrote: Alobar <Alobar Re: << >> Re: The Budwig Diet- Flaxseed Oil & Cottage Chees Friday, December 5, 2008, 5:13 AM Because he is misinformed? Guest guest
Eating large amounts of polar bear liver is dangerous. But I was not planning to eat any polar bear livers, even in small quantities. However, after doing a lot of reading on this topic, I believe that this is not something to fear, especially if you find the right high quality CLO. There have been plenty of studies to prove that Vit A can be toxic in very high amounts, however there has not been one study (as far as I could find) that proves that this toxicity happens when the source of the Vit A is from a natural one (not something like Retinol, but from fish, eggs, veggies, liver, CLO, etc.) The amounts they discuss are anywhere from 6000-10000 IU anyway, and my CLO has less than 2500 IU of Vit A in one tsp (Barlean's), so this does not worry me. Sorry, but the benefits are too high for me to worry about those fears which I find unproven... >
Guest guest
Then why is he talking like an ill informed idiot? What is your theory? Guest guest
D2 from plants is not effeciently converted to D3 which the body needs. Sure, sunlight is best for D, but most people work inside, dress for air conditioned offices (thus covering up most skin) so even in summer, vitamin D from sunlight is minimal for most people in temperate climates. His opinion about most cod liver oil being rancid seems bogus to me. If he had references to peer reviewed research, I would read it. But he seems to me to be just another vegan who try to scare people away from meat and fish. What does this statement actually mean? " Reverse osmosis does not adequately purify any longer " . Is he saying that R-O used to purify adequately, but no longer does so? I'd love to see his references for that statement! The man may make lots of $$ for giving nutritional advice, but he sure is not someone whose statements I would trust. It's very frustrating when I try to find answers to important questions, like how to keep from losing my hip to loss of cartlage and get so many conflicting answers from the best " experts " I can find. This guy made his claim about CLO because he thinks it's all rancid. He is one of the top naturopaths at the Hypocrites Institute and here are his recomendations, in full, so you can see. I think you'll find them interesting.
